My B&M experience was mixed - I decided on this cafe for brunch last week after reading the WOMOW review. Like the previous reviewer mentioned, B&M is constantly busy so they must be doing something right. The food is pretty good...rosti was crispy and more-ish, the wagyu sandwich a bit bland but passable and I really liked the ploughman's plate. Coffee was smooth and very nice. Downside is, we waited nearly an hour for our food to arrive. Some of us were starving by then but overall, a pretty good cafe. Just beware of the queues.

Pretty menu pictures that don't translate to taste. The tenderous ribs ramen was too salty and there was more fatty pork than actual ribs. Unagi don was ok - comes with miso soup and pickles but the amount of pickles was laughable.
Service was confused. Ramen did not come with a ladle - we had to ask the waitress for one, and she came back with a normal spoon but offered it to the wrong table. We asked about getting an actual ramen ladle like the other tables but apparently, they ran out of them. And this was a fairly quiet night.
Better ramen to be had elsewhere.

The food was rather average, nothing outstanding. Our tapas included: mussels (yum), grilled chorizo, lamb skewers, patatas bravas (to replicate at home, chop some frozen potato wedges, fry and serve with sambal oelek), spinach omelet and garlic bread (sinfully buttery).
Then came the paella which was not bad but did not have the burnt rice (guess they missed the Masterchef epi..lol) then pizzas and sangria (watery). The pizza crusts were thicker than I'd prefer and as with the trend for the evening, they were..meh...

Stopped here for lunch - our table had a chicken schnitzel sandwich, a steak sandwich, corn fritters and slow-cooked beef (lamb? can't remember) pasta. Everything was delicious. The sandwiches were served with a choice of salad or fried and had the perfect amount of filling to bread (very important). The corn fritters were light and not greasy - my friend rates it better than those at Cafe XXI. And I'm not a big fan of pasta but tender chunks of meat in the red wine sauce was delightful (albeit slightly too salty but only a little). Service was ok but it was a challenge to catch their attention for extra orders (coffee).

This review is for Kawa, Surry Hills NSW

Small cafe in Surry Hills, good for people watching and well-known for organic food. However, organic means premium and this is reflected in Kawa's prices. I ordered their signature chicken meatball sandwich which looked huge, thanks to the generous sourdough slices. On closer inspection though, the filling consisted of 2 small meatballs sliced thinly. Given the uneven bread-meatball balance, I could only taste sourdough. Which is fine but for that price, I'd like to taste some chicken too, thankyouverymuch. Coffe was good. In short, lovely location with quality food but doubt I'd return to Kawa since Surry Hills is a cafe mecca.

The desserts here are mostly hits (so far, only 1 miss). The green tea yogurt is really creamy and heaven on a hot day (though a stronger green tea flavour would be good) - the green tea roll and mont blanc are also great. I didn't like the apple pie however; the filling-to-pastry ratio erred on the pastry side. Heads-up: The eat-in prices are nearly $1 more than the takeaway price.

This joint is highly overrated - their sukiyaki beef soba ranks way down on my list. The noodles were fine, the beef was ok (a bit tough) but the soup was terribly salty. I had to down glass after glass of water to quench my thirst...was it salt? msg? Either way, blergh. Won't be coming back here in a hurry especially when there are so many other ramen places nearby. Hopefully the Chifley outlet is better.

The freshly made gelato is creamy and smooth. Recommended flavours are milk & cookies and hazlenut. Rum and raisin is also pretty good. You can choose to have it in a cup or cone.

Love this place - great food, great service. Best to come in a group so you can try as many dishes as possible. We started with the nachos and mixed dips (the pepian and frijoles were very good) followed by 5 serves of the Flying Fajitas (chicken, steak, prawns, fish, chorizo). The chorizo and steak were the table's favourites while we unanimously agreed the chicken was too dry. (The legendary chillis sauces weren't as bad as expected though!)
We arrived pretty late, nearly 10pm, but the staff were very accommodating and looked after our table throughout the meal. It was a great evening - yummy Mexican food, friendly service - what's not to love?

This is a bustling Japanese eatery with pretty good food. However, be warned that the bento boxes are only available for lunch and no don sets seem to exist on the dinner menu either. Not being very hungry, I ordered the rice in tea (with salmon) and a chicken liver skewer. The rice dish was interesting - a small bowl of rice submerged in lightly flavoured broth and flakes of salmon, wasabi on the side. More salmon would have been better but a pleasant dish nonetheless. The wasabi was great - less pungent than the normal tube stuff and complemented the dish. The chicken livers were delightful; not overcooked with a lovely velvety texture.
Service was ok but the waitress forgot about 2 skewer orders from my table. Those came well after we'd finish our meals and only because we reminded them about it.
