We went here once a few years ago as we are from adelaide and came back, the lunch prices are great and the authentic food is very yummy with generous dishes, the food comes out fast and will be back

Excellent chinese bbq. The roast meats are plump, succulent and served in generous portions.
Service is rough and ready. But this is a chinese bbq diner/cafe, so you really don't expect much service. They are efficient and prompt - which is more important.
And they accept credit cards! (You'd be surprised at the number of chinese establishments in the CBD who still do not accept credit cards)

Used to come here for roast duck on rice- they had the best tasting roast duck ever. But one time we were served by an extremely rude waitress who threw a bill at us as soon as we finished our meal. And then stood there with her hand in our face asking for the money. Since then we've never been back.
But last weekend I was craving for Roast duck on rice and was nearby so I decided to give this place another chance. I was very disappointed, the roast duck was not as nice as it used to be. The serving was small and there were hardly any meat on the duck.

Great value, huge meals, fantastic quality. Roast duck with noodles. Delicious beyond words. Busy place so you might have to share a table. Good for takeawy too

I lived in Hong Kong for several years in my teens, and City BBQ is a perfect recreation of the restaurants there. The food is pretty spot-on Hong Kong, as is the somewhat less than attentive service and the staff chattering away to themselves in Cantonese. Try the sweet and sour pork and the delicious roast duck - you won't be disappointed!

Only one thing to order here: Roast Duck and Rice, $7:00 and better than any duck you will have had anywhere.
Tightarses will enjoy the fact that there is free tea just about everywhere in Chinatown.
