Great place for kids to see farm animals. The little cafe has some nice food and a very kid-friendly menu. Sunday is definitely the time to go if you want to save some money on the entry fee and spend it on breakfast and bags of animal feed. However, week days are fairly quiet and you'll probably have a much better time without the crowds. Remember to check out the baby animals in the shed and pat the guinea pigs.
Collingwood Children's farm is a great experience for toddlers. For people that live in the inner suburbs it is nice to experience open space so close to the city. There are limited animals to see when compared to Bundoora Children's Farm.
Would be nice if there was a little more hands on activities and small enclosures for children to learn by touching.
Certain staff need to revise customer service skills. One male staff member was leading a paying group session and when a small child (not from the tour) approached him for some chicken grain he sent the toddler away saying "these people are paying to feed the animals go feed the chicken's over there" (but there were no chicken's on the other side). A little inconsiderate and didn't look very nice to other visitors tagging on not realizing that a group session was in progress. Also, waited at the entrance window for 5 minutes wanting to buy some fresh eggs (with same male staff member behind the counter) but he never opened the window or acknowledged people waiting. Simply ignored myself and another lady wanting to pay to enter. Overall a good experience for small children. Perhaps group sessions should be clearly separated otherwise onlookers presume it is all part of the farms interactive service.

We LOVE this Children's farm for it's earthy atmosphere and close contact with animals in a relaxed and gorgeous setting. The cafe is delish and you can enjoy the experience of the farm by going to the cafe without paying to enter the farm.
I go here on market day. Entry is $2 (which is cheaper than the usual entry fee) and they tend to have some milking demonstrations or similar on. The farmer's market is wonderful, and with the gorgeous Yarra backdrop, you wuoldn't know you were in the city.
As well as vegies and gourmet treats, you can also buy a delicious and authentic cup of chai and sit and sip it on the hay bails. If it's winter, you're likely to get the added bonus of a warm fire.
The only real downside here is the crowds. Parking can be hard to come by, and many of the stalls actually sell out of produce early in the day. Some stall holders also take advantage of the 'boutique' status of the market and charge accordingly.
the place is amazing it consists of seven hectares of paddocks, gardens, orchards, rustic buildings and shady trees. The Animals are care for greatly and the gardens are beautiful. The markets are great, fresh food, jams, cheese, and lovely lunches
