Come here for lunch sometimes and it's always enjoyable. The food is good and the venue is fantastic. The heritage value of the building takes me back in time.

The gaming area is quite large and really functional. I've had some of my biggest wins at this hotel. A staff member kicked me out as I didn't have ID which is honestly a good thing, at least they look out for patrons. There's a particular staff member who is quite rude and tends to spill drinks as he pours them but everyone else is lovely.

I went to Craigs High Tea and the girl who served us was truly lovely but the food was the worst! I was given salmon in my vegetarian sandwiches, awful! And the cakes whilst being cute and little tasted terrible, they were dry and tasteless. Neither I nor my partner finished any one of them because they just werent worth it. We were given what appeared to be cut up sausage rolls.... The scones were very nice and the room was lovely where it was held but the most important part to it all, the indulgence was not there for the money. We were so disappointed we didnt even wait to do the tour so I cannot comment on that. Truly a waste of money.

Hello Jodiem26, thanks for sharing your experience, as disappointing as it was. It is truly unfortunate that some businesses remain ignorant regarding the definition of the word â??vegetarianâ??. One has a right to expect better from such an up-market (and expensive) establishment! As for the â??tastelessâ?? (but cute) cakes, this seems to be a current trend however where we come from, one shouldnâ??t have to choose between â??cuteâ?? and â??flavoursomeâ??. It is because of inconsistencies like these, that tourists (who in many cases have experienced better quality and have a right to have their expectations fulfilled) will likely not frequent such an establishment again. We do however recommend that you communicate your dissatisfaction directly to the business in question. Regards, Reeces. P.S. Incidentally, Ballarat does indeed offer some delectable dining experiences (that also cater for vegetarians). Feel free to message us for recommendations.

We visited Craigs for a birthday party in their restaurant. We enjoyed pre-dinner drinks in the foyer followed by a lovely meal. The prices were defiantly on the high end of the scale but it was worth it. Such a pleasure to have this level of quality in food in Ballarat. The service could have been more attentive but overall, a positive experience!

I went to this so called up class restaurants only to be bitterly disappointed. The meals were average but the most diappointing thing was the service. The male that served us was very rude.I will not return to this business.

Approximate cost: $30.00

Given that you have rated the afore-mentioned establishment so poorly, we would have appreciated some additional (and more specific) detail. Especially regarding the employee's behaviour that you deemed 'rude'. While we are not in any way questioning your experience, some additional information would have been great.

The male that served us seemed as if he did not want to be there on the day. He used no manners and made us feel unwelcome. People on other tables did not ask for water for there tables and were given bread for there table. Maybe we didn't spend enough money. A steak sandwich for $29.00 I think is quiet enough.I feel my experience was not good and I don't have to return.

I went here the other day just before 2:30, which is when the kitchen shuts but that was no problem, the waitress,Kate,I think was her name, was very obliging and friendly. There was three of us and a fifteen month old. My son had the fish and chips which was very succulent and the rest of us had a breakfast dish. All our meals were great,May I recommend the scrambled eggs with trout...yum.The only negative was it was a bit of a wait but the dining room was so interesting and comfortable that it didn't really matter( we were hungry though)and I had a browse in the gift shop too which was beaut and had some nice gifts. The wait was worth it and the waitress came and told us our meals weren't far off so that was good serviceWe were also asked during our meal if everything was ok, I think that is always important.Coffees were good too.Lovely foyer chairs to sit in too.

Craig's is in a beautiful building with a glass ceiling which adds to the atmosphere. Whilst most of our meal was delicious there were a few negatives. Waiters read specials off a piece of paper which sounds like a robot spewing out information rather than a person trying to sell something amazing. The confit duck was delicious however the pork shank was poorly plated and looked as though it had been thrown together. Dessert was delicious! Overall it was an enjoyable evening however having the pokies right next door was irritating- nothing worse than trying to have a conversation over the noise of coins pouring into a cup!
