I haven't been to Dallas Brooks Hall for a long time, but tonight we attended a concert there. There has been some redevelopment and there are many rooms and venues on offer for all sorts of functions. Nice parquetry floors, palm trees and comfortable looking seating.

The main concert hall, however is looking a bit tired. The carpet was frayed and stained and the chair I was sitting in had a lump in the back of it. The hall itself still has a good sound and can fit a lot of people. But the seats aren't raised enough, and even a short person in front of me obstructed the view.

Door personnel and snack bar staff were pleasant. But there weren't many options. There are also some vending machines. The Mens and Ladies toilets are separated by the whole width of the building. If it had a spruce up, like some of the newer areas, it could be really good. The foyer area is quite small, so at interval we escaped outside where there is no seating. But the quality of the music made up for a lot.
