Ice cream from here is fresh and delicious with great flavour. I like the coffee flavour and French vanilla. Gets very busy especially on warm days!

Yummy frozen yoghurt and ice cream at Davey Macs. I recommend the coffee flavour in a waffle cone. Super busy on hot days and open until late

Davey Macs is tucked away in a plain shop just off Beach rd. I think they get most of their customers as repeats as the outfit of the shop might not drag newbies in like other ice cream shops. The ice cream itself is some of the best in Melbourne. They have a malt one and I could eat buckets of it as it is so creamy and not overly sweet. Don't let the plain inside turn you off. Grab and ice cream and walk along the beach or sit in the park to enjoy.

I love my ice cream and gelato bars. I walked past this so many times but it was not eye catching enough to walk in. I did recently and very happy I gave it a go. The place itself is basic, uncomfortable seating and small...BUT the ice cream is the best I have tasted...will be here through the summer. Like a permanent ravenous statue.

Davey Mac's is a little boutique gelato bar in Black Rock. We've driven past it a million times but finally got around to trying it for the first time this weekend.

My husband and I had a 2-flavour cup of gelato each. I had the chocolate and lemon flavours, while my husband chose rum & raisin and dark chocolate. We both agreed that the gelato was quite tasty, very flavoursome and fresh. However, at $5.50 a pop we thought the small serving sizes were a little overpriced despite the quality.

The service was fine (it's a pretty simple transaction after all), we were served reasonably quickly and the premises were clean and tidy. There are a couple of tables available to sit at inside the shop but I think you'd be better off walking down to the beach instead (it's not a huge shop and I can imagine it'll start to get pretty crowded during summer!)

Overall, we'd probably come back again some time but the prices will keep us from coming back regularly.

Approximate cost: $5.50 for 2 flavours in a cup
