this bus service has gotten better with it being on time more often now a days. most of the drivers are friendly and polite but there are a few the can be quite rude. they are not rude with what or how they talk but with the fact that some will not wait for you to be properly seated before driving off. quite dangerous for kids and elderly. but overall they do get you to where they are meant to

Love catching the bus around Ballarat.
The drivers are mostly friendly expect for one or two who can be quite abrupt and rude.
They are always lovely and helpful in deciding which ticket you should purchase. The bus is cheap for a two hour ticket at only $1. Sometimes the buses are busy which makes it not as pleasurable however usually catching the bus is a lovely experience.

Very good, I caught the 9 . 10 am on 11 march 2009. I have not Used a bus in Ballarat in 35 years. The driver was lovely and helpful, told me the best choices for me and when he changed over he told the next driver to look after me because I was new to bus travel. I had no car parking worries and it cost me concession $1 return. Fantastic. The driver on the 11 25 back was good, however, I asked him if the last stop was Raymond Crescent and he said he did not know the streets just the stops. If he doesn't know the streets then he should learn them.

I would have to say the other 2 people have hit the nail on the head with this one! And I'd better worn everyone, I have been travelling to Geelong where they have already brought in the MyKey tickets and they have had a few mix ups but they are a very well run company down here and to think that a lot of their buses are the same company as up here would blow people away from Geelong! I think people would be thinking what went wrong between Geelong and Ballarat! The Ballarat company is that badly organised I would hate to see them trying to use the new MyKey as well. Sorry I dont think thats how u spell it but as long as you know what I mean then it dont matter!!!

I moved from Melb 4years ago to Ballarat as so surprised that a town a large as Ballarat's only bus service is so backwards with it's service. Most routes only have a bus every 30mins ... how insane two bus services for every hour. Well, we won't mention some bus routes that are only ONE bus per hour (eg, Canadian bus route) ... now that is NUTS !!
The Mt.Pleasant bus route that was changed for the WORST last year is so disappointing ... This bus route only takes you as far the Bridge St bus junction and if you want to go as far as Myers (which on the timetable it states it's destination) YOU have to grovel and beg the bus driver otherwise they will drop you off the other side of the road in front of Bookcity.
When this route changed i rang Davies Buses and i was reassured that the bus goes to Myers each time ... um, not the case as i have been told by a couple of drivers they 'won't' go there : (
This route before the change could take you up to Myers, the Hospitals, basically 3/4 way up Sturt Street, then Sebastpol.
To get up Sturt Street now the next bus is a 15min wait (say to even get to the hospital) ... not great when you have a baby in the pram on a windy & cold day.
Oh, and we won't mention anyone that needs to catch the V/Line to work in Melb ... as the bus doesn't take you anywhere near the Ballarat train Station. Not to mention our first bus on the Mt.Pleasant route is at 7.05, ... not enough time to walk to the train station & catch the V/Line & get to work by 9.am - um, not possible.
Oh, i guess we should be grateful that we have buses running once in a blue moon on a Saturday ... as the Mt.Pleasant route has NO BUSES on a Sunday. Yes, we live like hermits on a Sunday as we can't get about in Ballarat as the Buses are our only link in getting about without a car !!!!
I too have waited for a bus that ' NEVER TURNED UP ' even when i was at the stop very early for it.
By the way, WHERE IS A DAILY TICKET ???? What's with JUST a 2hour ticket as i have had to pay in a course of a day 3 x $2.00 2hr tickets. How does a 2hr ticket work when the buses are only every 30mins to 1hr ... such a rip off there. Also i have noticed when the cost of tickets rise in price the cheap concession hardly ever goes up ... oh, but of course us that pay full-fare get hit with the cost rise (discriminating it is) ... : (
DAVIES BUS LINE desperately needs to provide this large populated town with a much, much better service.
Davies Bus Line has gotten away with this for too long and need to look at how efficient and up with the times the Melbourne bus services are !!!!!!!!!
Don't make us locals suffer any more just because we may not have a car or can't drive for what ever reason !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought our ticket might have helped pay for a better service BUT obviously NOT !!!
