What a frustrating experience with their “customer service” team. Be careful, the process feels very thorough but I felt like I was tricked into loosing a “discount” by the way the process unfolded.

I booked in a termite inspection and an initial inspection after confirming the total price would be $495. I was charged $198 for the initial inspection and then called up to ask questions organise payment for the termite inspection which was $495 minus the $198 I had already paid.

The customer service person wasn’t able to answer all my questions. So said she would call me back after she spoke to her manager. 4 hours later she called back and I missed that call. I wasn’t able to call her back until the next day.

On calling back the next day, I was told I wasn’t able to get $495 minus the $198 I already paid as that “offer” was only available if I paid it on the same day. I stupidly assumed given I had said in the second call “I’m ringing up to organise the payment, I just have questions” and the customer service person couldn’t answer that this would not impact my ability to get a total price of $495.

In the third conversation, I asked if this was the case why I wasn’t charged the $495 in total in the first or the second phone calls and I was then put through to the manager, who then said she reviewed the voice recordings. She confirmed I had been told it all needed to be paid the same day in the first call. So again, I asked if I had booked in both inspections in the initial phone call why wasn’t the full $495 payment taken in either the initial or follow up phone call I made, as I said in the second call I was calling to make the payment and organise the treatments. A circular conversation then followed, where she debated with me on why I wasn’t eligible for the “discount”, I was then told I would get the $198 discounted from any treatments I decided to move forward with.

Really? So instead of $495 for the inspections, I’m obligated to get treatments through you to get the “discount” I was promised for the inspections.

What a great sales tool. Hook me in for treatments, and offer the discount for the next item you want to hook me in for. This did not sit well with me, I did not want to risk getting the termite inspection and being told afterwards there was some loop hole for them to charge me a full price again. Nor did I feel it was acceptable to charge me $198 plus $495 instead of the flat $495 and tell me it was my fault for not making a same day payment, to get my “discount”. You had the recordings, so knew I had made a genuine effort to make a same day payment!

Approximate cost: $198

Hello Melinda,

We appreciate your feedback and are sorry to hear that you had a negative experience with our customer service team.

With regards to your initial inquiry, you had some concerns about possible termites in the property due to moisture, and as we have a Duty of Care, our helpdesk operator offered a Termite Inspection for $495. We had this booked in for you for 12th March which was our next available date. You then advised you had another possible pest in the home, so our operator advised we could do a separate inspection at a cost of $198 which you booked in and had completed. Both of these could have been done on the 12th March for $495.00, however, there was some urgency from you, so we attended to investigate and advised a termite inspection would be required.

In relation to any discount offer, as these were 2 separate bookings, in different areas, there is no discount. Had we attended to do the full termite inspection, the $495.00 would be automatically deducted from the termite treatment quote provided to you. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact our office on 9222 2222 and ask for Andrew.

Nice way to try and make it sound like what Ive shared is incorrect. I was told the TOTAL AMOUNT would be $495 even though they were booked as separate appointments. I know as I confirmed this in the first phone call. You have a voice recording of it!!!

I have now booked in with Exopest, who are cheaper and have better reviews. For those interested check them out first before using Dawsons.

We paid Dawsons $330 to treat a rodent issue (rats/mice in the roof).

The first treatment was completed in late September. During the following 4 weeks, the rodents were not affected by the treatment and the noise increased considerably over the following weeks. There were no 'waves' or 'influx' of new rodents. The noise continually increased.

Dawsons returned under warranty and did 2 further treatments with the same effect. Never has there been a break in the noise or even a reduction in noise.

These treatments were done by a 'senior' technician and one of their 'most experienced people. Even at the time, we were told this person has never had to come back and re-treat a property.

Dawsons wanted to send a 'senior' technician for the 4th time. However, they were unable to justify why this visit would be any different from previous visits.

We asked for a refund and they refused. I've issued a chargeback on my credit card and booked a treatment with another company.

Hi David,
We are sorry to hear about your particular issue regarding rodent control and understand that you are not satisfied with the services provided. We understand your frustrations with the influxes of rodent activity; however, this is normal during the treatment period. Unfortunately, Dawsons Australia cannot offer a guarantee on rodent treatments, which is why we offer a 6-month free service period to complete further spot treatments. As mentioned, we offered to come back out under the 6-month free service period, however, you declined this offer. If you wish to discuss this matter further and talk about other actions we could take to satisfy the rodent situation, please contact our office on 9222 2222 and ask for Andrew.

I had a rodent service done by Dawson's Australia mid 2019. The tech advised that it may take up to 6 weeks for the treatment to take effect. The 6 weeks expired and I called customer service who advised I was likely seeing the mice still because it was getting colder and they move indoors.

Another tech was sent out and re-treated. Again, I was told it would take 6 weeks for the service to take effect. 6 weeks later and my mouse problem is worse than ever. I called customer service and the same lady told me that the increase in mouse numbers was due to the weather getting warmer and the mice wanting to get inside.

A senior tech was dispatched and he again treated the house. 6 weeks later and there was a reduction in the number of mice but by no means were they gone. Still droppings visible everywhere. The same customer service lady (who has an infuriating way of speaking with a condescending manner and rolls out the same scripted dialogue every single call) advises me that their service never guarantees complete removal of the rodents.

I put up with the mice over the summer months but have noticed increased activity again. Called customer support and was advised that my warranty period is now up and I'd have to pay the full amount again for another treatment.

Summary: Dawson's rodent service did not work to remove rodents. Their customer service representatives (or at least one of them) shouldn't be client facing. Value for money: nil.

I'm not saying scam, but some might think so.

Approximate cost: $300

Hi Brendan, we are sorry to hear about your particular issue regarding rodent removal and understand that you have not had a positive experience with Dawsons Australia.
As discussed on the telephone earlier today, we were happy to send one of our Senior Technicians to visit your property today to provide a free spot treatment and more importantly to discuss your concerns you have experienced outside of your 6 month warranty period; however this offer was declined. We also made multiple recommendations when we were last onsite in November and wanted to go through these in more detail with you to advise if there were any other actions we could take to satisfy the rodent situation for you. These included areas where rodents were gaining access to your property.
Our offer to resolve the issue remains, if you wish to take us up on this please contact our office on 9222 2222.

I had Dawson's Pest Control come out for a rodent issue in my house. Jade and Paul were very friendly, explained the process and gave a realistic idea of what to expect. Roof and under the house were treated with a powder which the mice walk through and eventually poison themselves while trying to clean themselves. Cost was a little under $300 for a small house and the rodents were gone after two days or so. Also comes with a 6 month guarantee.

Approximate cost: $300

We had an infestation of European wasps, and Dawson came out to remove it on the same day of call. They were professional and fast, and was good value. I can recommend.

i went to an interview for a job with this mob a few years ago and i was told that i was over qualified and they could do without my services....i think they could do with more people like me in their business, the more qualified the better.

Where to begin some of the call centre staff are quite rude and surly, I'm not too sure if they realise that they are talking to clients over the phone, the technician that I had out was an absolute gentleman and even said if I have any problems to give him a call. I also had to 'renew' my grandmother's service and the girl that took my call was very helpful and polite I thought I rang the wrong number, she also said if I should have any issues to ring and ask for her directly.

Have used this company a number of times over the years, service is OK depending on who you get at the time, some of the service people are not as good as others, sometimes they seems to be in a hurry to the the job, and at times they had to be called back because the job was not done right the first place.
