You can't beat this for an inexpensive family day out. Running on a Sunday at only $8 per adult and $6 per child with under 2 yrs free you get a 2 hour cruise down the Port River and are virtually guaranteed to see dolphins in the ship's bow waves. A thrill for little and big kids alike.

We took the Dolphin Explorer cruise on the Port River last Sunday. Bigger boat, more stable, plenty of room and good views from all decks. The cost of $16 for cruise and lunch or $6 for the cruise only. The meals looked quite adequate and good choices for the $10 extra and the snacks, if you decide to take the cruise only are very reasonable. Good selection of beverages whether you require the strong stuff or the week stuff. The staff are courteous and friendly when servicing tables and dealing with your requirements. Where else, these days, can you get 2 hours of relaxation on an idealistic cruise generous views of a placid Port River, an occasional glimpse of a dolphin or two, sun streaming through the window on a glorious Spring day. The only small downfall was that it was hard to hear the informative and expert commentary as we made our way down the river. An excellent day out.

At $5 for kids and $8 for adults for a tour hour cruise down the river how can you go wrong?! It was a bit slow for the kids and we didn't see many dophins until we got a fair way down the river, but it was still an enjoyable activity and the cruise operator gave lots of really interesting information about the history of Port Adelaide, Torrens Island and other sites along the river. The sound system could be a bit better so it was easier to hear on the top deck (where you could enjoy the sunshine) and the boat could be a bit cleaner and food prices a bit cheaper, but other than that it was a great, cheap 2 hour holiday activity with the kids and it was pretty exciting to see dolphins in the river!
