Running a dental practice is expensive. If you want budget dentistry, go to a clinic run by your health insurer.

It's hard to believe that anyone could have dental x-rays taken and not be aware of it, unless they were under sedation.

Janet is a great dentist. She is not cheap, but she's friendly, highly experienced, and totally professional.

The dentists of Women in Dentistry aren't budget dentists, but they are excellent dentists. They were recommended to me by a specialist dentist I'd seen about another problem. It's your teeth you're talking about here - they need to last your whole life, and if they're not properly maintained they can cost you a lot more time, money, and pain than it costs to go to a good dentist in the first place.

Another dentist had given me advice to have a tooth extensively filled because of a discolouration on it. Janet Daniels reassured me that it was not something that needed filling, and twelve months later, the tooth has not given me any trouble. She saved me from destroying a perfectly healthy tooth.

So if you're really worried about money, go somewhere else. It's hard to get an appointment at Women in Dentistry, so they must be doing something right.

This dentist is registered as member's choice provider for Medibank private members. I chose this dentist purely because I thought I don't have to pay too much out of pocket if I were to go with Medibank's approved dentist. I was there for a half yearly checkup and cleaning. I told the dentist I already had an X ray done half a year ago with a different dentist and I was told there's nothing wrong with my teeth. Somehow she still went ahead and did X ray and some other things, which I was not told. When it came to paying at the counter I was told to pay out of pocket $100. I was pretty shocked because for a checkup and cleaning I had to pay with other dentists was around $30 MAX. As soon as I got back to the office I made a complaint to Medibank and they agreed that the fees charged were way too high. I felt ripped off.

Hi Lusianac,
Thanks for a candid and honest review. Unfortunately, there are far too many practitioners charging above (and beyond) the ‘standard’ rate, however if people fail to ‘speak-up’ and question the ‘additional’ charges, then little will be done. While all ‘professionals’ have the ‘right’ to charge as they ‘see fit’, we consumers also have the right to determine whether or not we will do business with them. Irrespective of this, we were pleased to hear that you ‘spoke-up’ about the matter.
By the way, there are some ‘highly’ recommended dentists on this website and I encourage you to look them up. There is one particularly ‘well-rated’ dentist (located in the city) who continues to receive ‘outstanding’ reviews and appears to offer ‘the best’ in dentistry. We wish you all the best in locating a replacement. Regards, Reeces

Cheers, another one to steer clear of by the sound of it.
