Gets no stars from me , completely without compassion or interest in animal welfare from my experience. I have four pets and live around the corner from this clinic and have used it a number of times , On all those occasions i've found them over priced and abrupt so isn't my first choice in vet care however today my Maltese poodle was attacked by another dog and was very shaken and reluctant to put weight on one paw. On a Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock I hoped that a clinic might be open and found Eureka was . I expected to pay an after hours fee but as my animals had been there before hoped that given the circumstances my pet would be seen and account paid on the following Monday . I was led to believe that this would be possible so waited in the clinic for some time for my dog to be seen , He does have anti inflammatory tablets at home but only a couple which I mentioned to the nurse , she asked my what it, was giving me the impression that they felt this was all that would be required and they would supply more to save me the expense of an after hours fee . I tried to find out what this actual medication was and when I stated I needed to go home to find out for sure they then stated that they wouldn't be assisting with this medication without a consultation and that was not possible without upfront payment. ??? How about being clear about this from the get go ? how about putting the animals welfare first before a delay in payment of 2 days when its clear I ve been at the clinic before and paid my accounts in full ?? Waist of time , very unhelpful and apparently only interested in maintaining their financial priority over my pets welfare. This Vet is in the wrong business and I requested my animals records to be removed from the clinic and would never present my animals for assistance from such a clinic with such apparently poor values and concern for animal welfare over there over inflated dollar value they put on themselves . Badly done Eureka clinic. I suggest your practice Managers go back to being CPAs and not agents for animal welfare WHICH CLEARLY YOU ARE NOT . I will be actively recommending alternative vet clinics in the area who show better core values to there clientele. Shame on you Eureka Clinic Creswick road Ballarat Central.

Any after hours vets charge a fee when you bring in your animal. Too many people say they cant pay the fee until next week & then dont pay. Dont own an animal if you cant afford its care.

I cannot speak highly enough about this veterinary practice. I have 2 dogs, an older Border Collie and a young German Shepherd and each time we go into Eureka we are met with warm compassion and above all empathy.

When we first came her our Border Collie had been diagnosed with arthritis (by another vet) in her back legs. We came to see Mike Sheedy and asked him for his advice, he took our Karma, X-rayed her and told us that when we had taken her to the vet previously she had a broken leg and so the Sasha's blend that we were given did nothing to help her. Mike worked tirelessly and finally we found a solution to keep our energetic girl running around.

Another instance of this practices compassion and commitment to truly go above and behind for their furry companions was when Karma had eaten something she shouldn't have and had an intestinal blockage. We ran her straight to Mike knowing that he would do everything possible for Karma, and after 3 full days at the vets she came home healthy and happy. During this time however, I was away. Mike made the time to ring me at night to explain to me what had happened to my precious girl and where he was up to with diagnosing her and how he was going to help her. One of the days she was in, Mike had to leave for a pre-booked surgery but left Karma in the competent hands of Rob (whose last name I should have grabbed) to continue to X-ray her and make sure that the treatment had been effective. During this day, despite being away Mike rang back in to check on Karma and check on prognosis and how she generally was.

My animals mean the world to me, and I can tell that they do to the staff at Eureka as well. I would not trust just anyone with my furry babies and I cannot recommend Mike Sheedy highly enough.

Hi Tashp2, while we are in full agreement with your overall review, we had a negative experience with the vet named in your review. Up until now, the experience has been too traumatic to even discuss, let alone consider composing a review. However in the interest of others, it will be completed sometime in the not too distant future. Irrespective of our experience, we are pleased that your outcome was a successful one. Incidentally, the surname of the other vet that you mention is â??Pageâ?? and we recommend this gentle-man in the highest manner possible. Regards, Reeces

On behalf of our 9 and a half year old rottweiler Harley, we would like to thank Mike Sheedy and his wonderful team for attending to Harley in such a professional and heart warming manner. Thanks for saving our littlle fellas life. If we ever need the services of a vet in the future we certainly will go back there again. Highly recommended to all pet owners.

We took the kids Duck Mike to Eureka after it had been attacked by dogs, few cuts and and a broken leg, we did not think much could be done for Mike. But Rob after x-raying his leg thought there was a good chance of saving him.

Over the next 6-7 weeks Rob and his staff were fantastic changing bandages adjusting pins giving us great guidance. Our kids were thrilled to bits and Mike the Duck is now healthier than ever. I can't speak highly enough of the quality of care and concern all at Eureka have shown to our pets over the years.

Approximate cost: $397.00

These guys did an amazing job of making my cat better from a bladder infection a week before I was due to fly out to the UK for three weeks. I left knowing that my cat was going to fine while I was away. They are the most caring vets I have ever come across and really looked after my cat for me.

I owe everything to this vet place the people there are so understanding and compassionate i had a little puppy who was born really sick i ran her down there and they saw he right away and she was given an operation. I picked her up after a phone call and they explained everything to me. Sadly my puppy got worse and went back to the vet the next day and the lovely lady there held me and told me it was time to let the puppy sleep, i have never met more dedicated and caring people in my life

Eureka Vets have cared for all our pets for 20 years. They are caring , compassionate and professional always. We have, sadly, needed to have several of our loved pets put to sleep over the years. The entire staff have been sympathetic and kind at these sad times even sending a beautifully worded sympathy card. I can't fault them.
