Great friendly staff, above average coffee and a good menu. Europa tends to attract clientele in the 30 plus age bracket with good value nice food and coffee in a friendly and casual atmosphere.
The atmosphere at Europa is incredibly laid back and friendly and it's lovely to sit inside and enjoy a lovely latte in the newly renovated shop. All the staff know me on a name basis and it feels so welcoming

Considering I haven't been in Ballarat long, I've certainly spent a lot of time in cafes since arriving! This is one of my favourites and it has had a recent makeover. I did like the "rustic" feel of the cafe before but they've done a good job with the renovation. The staff are always friendly, the coffee is very enjoyable and the little food that I have had has always been enjoyable, especially my breakfast last week. It's our cafe of choice at the moment.
I had the pancakes with fresh fruit & yoghurt, which I enjoyed. My friend had a cappuccino, which she said was very bitter and ended up pouring a massive amount of sugar in to try and override the bitterness. I didn't have the coffee this time, but I have had in the past and don't recall an issue with it. Perhaps it is a bit inconsistent. I would still go there for other food and drink items though as the service and atmosphere are good.
Their coffee is not nice.
For a cafe I hear people rant and rave about - it did not live up to expectations.
When I asked a friend why they would ever choose it over the other cafes in the area they replied "they have comfier chairs" sigh.
I love going to Europe; they do delicious breakfasts and their coffee is really good. I've never tried them for dinner but they do certainly have a good menu. Europa is always my pick for late breakfast as they serve all day!
Fantastic food and great atmosphere. Food is a little pricey but you are getting very fresh ingredients and very tasty food. All day breakfast which is very handy for those lazy Sundays and great coffee and cake. Highly recommend for anyone who is visiting Ballarat.

At Europa there is always beautiful fresh food and interesting deserts. Very yummy! The staff are very obliging and nothing is a bother. Overall this cafe has a great'vibe', great place to meet up with friends.
We went in with friends for a drink. Coffee was pretty good, as were the thickshakes and juice but it was the prices that were bordering on rude! We weren't intending on eating there but looking over the menu, their basic items were priced like a posh restaurant. I think this cafe is trying to be upmarket but just isn't pulling it off
Approximate cost: $20
I'm afraid your experience sums up most Ballarat eateries perfectly... would be if they could be places. Happy to charge rude prices while serving reasonably satisfactory but never special food. Service is generally hit and miss, rarely professional.
Yes, prices have climbed up over the years to rude levels and service has hit the ground. Shocking coffee and cold staff. Pity, it used to be wonderful a decade ago.
One of the better Cafes in Ballarat, brings a bit of a Melbourne Atmosphere, all day breakfast is a rarity in Ballarat! Unfortunately the last couple of times I ate there the service was very slow.
Approximate cost: $20
