Just finished beginner course 1 in French - loved the experience; not too much grammar & heaps of conversation. Tres Bon
Giaccomo is fun & makes the learning easy. Each lesson l've learnt lots & can actually speak French. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Encore!
I'm signing up for beginner course 2 - one day I'll speak French fluently Do yourself a favour & get on board. Tout suite!

If the French Centre specialises in Italian, as is suggested below, I must switch to Italian because if I thought my French classes were very very good, the Italian classes must be exceptional! I've completed four levels at the French Centre and I've had three teachers: Céliane, Noémie and Anaïs. Céliane's English was average but it didn't bother me at all. If anything it made me pay more attention. Noémie's English is very good as is Anaïs', all with a lovely French accent, but Anaïs' level of English is irrelevant because the class is conducted almost exclusively in French. To expect that all teachers should speak perfect English, especially when learning a foreign language is quite sad. Also, if you do happen to miss something in class the CDs which come with the course explain things perfectly well. So, all I can say is: j'adore le French Centre !

it was okay overall, the centre is specialising in italian language and the french tutors have a bit of an issue understanding the english language, which is a pity

I'm studying French at the French Centre and I love it. Prior to joining the French Centre I took three private lessons. The teacher was lovely but the lessons weren't structured very well. The material consisted of sheets photocopied from different textbooks and I could tell that the teacher's knowledge of grammar wasn't up to scratch. Also we would spend half the time chatting about things in general which was nice but not conducive to learning French, so I enrolled in a course at the French Centre. I learnt more in one lesson than I had in the three private lessons I had taken before. The courses are well structured, the material and the cds are excellent. The class is pacy and there's lots of speaking and pronunciation practice. I like the fact that you can attend on a different night if you can't attend your regular class. The price is competitive. The teachers, students and atmosphere at the Centre are lovely. I'm really enjoying it so thumbs up from me!

Tried the group classes / lessons and found them not useful at all. Either you are more advanced than other students and waste time or you are a slow learner and the class has to adapt according to your learning style. Would definitely recommend other private one-to-one providers around Sydney. good resources on the other side

The center specializes in French and Italian. They provide their own material and CDs which are very good. casual and friendly atmosphere. Also they have classes starting every month unlike most places in Australia.

Approximate cost: $280
