Great atmosphere on wednesdays. Very busy and packed. Music they play is top 40 style and meh but good atmosphere. If you're 18-20 that's the main target of the wednesdays at the sheaf party. Went last week and it was basically a HSC party.

I hate pubs and only go to them for a meal if there is nothing else. However, was pleasantly delighted with the Golden Sheaf. It was their lovely "beer garden" (for wont of a better name) that convinced me to stay and have a meal. It was great. The food was daaaaamn good! The only drawback was that I felt very old among the young groovers. I am only 50 but this place suits the young beautiful people. Don't let this put you off - go for the fantastic food. We did and we're glad we did and we WILL be back! I should mention though, that on the night we went, there was a very loud rock band. Not my taste, but what the hell, I stuffed myself full of food and wine and left very impressed.

The bistro has the Fastest Service Ever! My meal arrived seconds after I placed my order and there were quite a large number of diners. Meals are not always consistent though.

The food at the bistro is surprisingly affordable and it's pretty good too. Bar prices are a little high, but the Sheaf has a nice atmosphere and is a good place to start off the night
