I came here with friends with high expectations and thought the food would be exquisite.
Upon entering the premise I was greeted by staff in Italian welcoming into place. I was given a little stool to place my handbag which, I was quite impressed.
Service was quick and prompt. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. They were very knowledgeable in regards to meals and wine parings.
The presentation of the food was excellent and looked appetizing. The taste of the food was not too bad. I thought for the price I would be getting top notch food. I was a bit disappointed with the Risotto. It was a bit dry and tasteless. The rest of the dishes were good though. The desserts Chocolate Souffle and Panacotta was to die for.
Approximate cost: $140
Had a very polished meal here. The best part was a small amusement that came before the food - a superbly crunchy, soft centred tuna croquette. The chocolate dessert was wonderful too. It has a fairly adventurous menu. Service was friendly and polished.
Approximate cost: $50
went here for a quick dinner before watching a musical, staff were quite professional and food was served promptly - unfortunately one of my friend's order's was stuffed up but was fixed in less than 10 minutes so they bounced back quite well
for a fancy looking restaurant it's not too expensive, i had pasta for 18 bucks - but mind you their portion sizes are minuscule so i was still feeling a bit peckish afterwards
3 of my family members and I took a friend of ours out to celebrate his birthday here, and choose the 8 course degustation Wow what a great experience. They were happy to accomodate to dietry requirements. The service was one of the best i have experienced and the food was very enjoyable, unique,The petit fours were divine what i didn't appreciate was the fact that there was only one toilet upstairs well one for each gender. Otherwise a top experience. I'd encourage people to come here for a special occasion and order the full 8 courses.
Ahhh Grossi Florentino - where do I start?
The food, the service, the atmosphere - absolutely devine. I have dined in many a fine dining establishment & nothing comes close to anything Guy Grossi touches. The man has a silken glove! He's lovely too, happy to pop up to say g'day & excellent with young wide-eyed children :-) I'm impressed he is actually in his kitchen & not swanning around being a stuffed shirt celebrity (unlike some chefs!).
On our last visit to Melbourne we dined there twice, once for a special evening with set menu, matching wines & the Melbourne choir.. a very entertaining evening. The other we opted for the degustation 8 course & matching wines - the sommelier certainly knows his stuff - simply remarkable.
I highly recommend for an evening of distinction.
Approximate cost: $25 - $50
Food was exceptional. We went there on valentines day which was a mistake. Obviously understaffed as service was slow- sommelier took about 20 minutes to get our first drink order before ordering food. Would go back on a quieter evening as the food was really good.
Approximate cost: $30-$40
the service was a bit slow but the food and quality was great, a great place to have lunch with that special person would recommend the bistro downstairs anytime.
Approximate cost: $28.00
So elegant, a truly once in a lifetime (well for me anyway), Cinderella experience. It's Melbourne's equivalent to Maxim's. Buon appetito
Approximate cost: $50 plus
