I rented through this company a few years ago.
Very slack with repairs and to top it off after I had given notice that I was leaving Geoff turned up unannounced with a prospective new tenant and her small children for an inspection. She had driven from Geelong to look at the property so it really left me in a bit of a spot. If she had of been local I would have told him they weren't coming in and to give me notice of same (as required by law). We had packing boxes and stuff everywhere.
As a home owner, I would not recommend that anyone use them to either sell or lease their property.
I was looking for a house to buy recently, and had the misfortune to deal with these rude and unprofessional people. Initially, as one house became of interest, they seemed pleasant and gregarious, but I then made an offer to start off proceedings, which was rejected. On raising it slightly, I was taken aback to find another rejection, via a rude, condescending and dismissive text message. I couldn't believe someone looking to sell something would be so abrupt and patronising - I never treat people like this in my profession, so cannot tolerate rudeness such as this. Never again!

Renting... I dont know how these people are still in business well apart from changing the real estate company because of the sex scandal. But this real estate company is just bad news, they push you around and over charge for there rent

We have had dealings with this very underqualified,
unproffesional person, G.S.R.E is a disgrace to the industry.
We organised a house inspection with them, and the head guy showed up 20mins late then tried to tell us that we had the inspection time wrong when we wrote it down while still on the phone to them. The house seemed fine when we looked through it, they said they hadnt had any problems with it before or their clients, After being accepted for the property and moving in there was some furniture still there, so when a friend came to stay they used the sofa which came with the property, he opened it up and there was drugs in the mattress which we notified the proper authorities about. We also found drug using equipment in some of the cupboards which the agents never thought it necassary to mention. After 6mths of living there the walls had started to crack at an alarming rate and door knobs were falling off, we mentioned it to them and they said they would fix it. Well after 6 more months and plenty more complaints about the house falling apart nothing got done, so needless to say we said sayonara to the house and gsre!!!
Hi Anonymous Member, what an interesting predicament you found yourselves entwined with. This business appears to be plagued with questionable activity and is clearly worth avoiding. It is unfortunate our countries real estate industry is so immoral and that governing authorities appear to be part of the problem and not the solution. When it comes to local real estate firms, we are deeply troubled by the severe lack of professionalism and adherence to the law. It is vital that people keep in mind that agency policy NEVER trumps the law! While urgent and non-urgent repairs are handled in a slightly different manner, tenants are nevertheless entitled to have repairs completed in a timely manner. If this does not occur, please file a complaint with the local office of Consumer Affairs, who can arrange for a VCAT hearing. It is vital that tenants know (and stand up for) their respective rights otherwise unscrupulous agents will surely trample over them for their own financial gain.
