Poor service left pregnant dog at risk ....

We took our pregnant dog for a ultrasound and consult . Before the appointment we were fully aware the scan would not give us the numbers of the puppies . We were at no time under any delusion that's what the scan would tell us. All we wanted to know was did she have just one puppy or possible more to ensure her safety . We were advised by our old vet in another town that dogs can be pregnant with one pyp if that was the case she would require a caesarian. Which is why we had the scan. My partner who was not taken in to witness scan was told after that they could give us no idea if she had just one . He asked about if she needed a cesearisn but the vet replied see how she goes handed him a 2 page print out on pregnant dogs and the consult ended. At no time was he told she needed surgery otherwise we would have booked it as we live our dog. As I was not at the consult I found this to be poor communication and was still in the dark about our dogs pregnancy. After 3 days of calling , 3 days of no answers only to be told by the vet nurse that there was no clinical notes about her pregnancy scan . As you can imagine I was upset and worried and by the third day I was stern but never abused anyone after 3 days I kept being told I would get a call from the vet . After about 7 calls from me with no one able to tell me what was found on the scan or the plan of attack I reported them to the Qld Board of Veterinary Surgeons in hope this poor communication and lack of clinical care does not put any other pregnant dog at risk. To really show the unprofessional nature of this practice a vet sent a personal text to my mobile . Very rude and childish. At the end of the day it appears the Ultrasound was not done correctly hence the inability of the vet and vet nurses to give me any answers over the phone. So we have now spent $170 and we're told today by another vet there she does have a pup and she it as risk . So my question is ? Why were we not told this on the day or when I called 7 times . All I want to do is ensure my baby girl is safe and healthy . Shame on this company . So we're off to another vet for another scan .

Approximate cost: $170

Took great care of our puppy during a Sunday night emergency. Once we knew our puppy was well, another dog came in with a more immediate emergency, we happily agreed to wait while the vet on call treated the other dog. When the vet returned, she was very apologetic for the wait (we were happy to wait) and minimised the cost for us. Great customer service!

A little bit over priced for just a consult/check up lovely people though. I've only been once but have now found an alternative option only choose this cause of the price factor other than that they are great.

Ive only taken my dogs to this vet clinic in an emergency when my usual one was not open. It is a large clinic with many vets there for there is no personal experience, the vet doesnt know your animal & your animal doesnt know the vet which is why I chose not to use this clinic on a regular basis.
They were professional & friendly on the occassions that I did use their services although I cannot recommend their after hours service. To my disgust, when calling their oncall vet one night due to my dog being in pain & possibly having a broken bone he was disinterested & told me it could wait untill the next day. My dog was treated the next day by my usual & prefered vet. Ive found that it is very expensive compared to other veterinarians in town too.

I have had both my dogs at this Vet and they are great. They know what they are doing and they are great about explaining everything in layman's terms. I will always take my dogs to this vet whenever is necessary.

This was the 1st vet we found when we moved up here from Sydney. We had 3 babies 2 dogs and 1 cat. We always found the vets to be caring and helpful and on 1 occassion 1 of our dogs had an accident when running around in the yard at night and ran into a star picket and cut his eye open. We rushed him in early the next morning and didn't have to wait long to get him in. They operated that day to stitch his eye back up. They alway send out notices every year when our babies yearly injections were due. They also have a notice board and a book if you are looking for a new pet or need to find a home for your own pet. The front staff are always friendly and always have a smile on their faces.
