Hames Reid replaced 2 toilets which were past their use by date. They did a great job, more than $1000 cheaper than a quote I received from another firm, I won't use any one else in future. Highly recommended.

I've used Hames Reid twice. The first time was 6 months ago -they cleared a block pipe due to tree roots. Back then they were prompt and communicated well and even followed up with a diagram of the backyard and where the access point to the pipes were located. We had the same issue again recur recently and due to their good service back then, I did not hesitate to call them back.
Good points this time- easy to book in, received a text message when they were on their way.
Bad points - failed to communicate with me via phone as they told my secretary they would. Also charged twice the amount as they did 6 months ago for doing exactly the same job. I sent a couple of emails asking for more information about the location of the blockage so we could mitigate this in the future but did not receive any response. Also can't fathom why they would charge twice the amount for the same job - I then saw their reviews on WOMO and noted similar issues.
First job they would have received 5 stars. This job - 1 star. Therefore their average is 3 stars.
For what it's worth, I used a different plumber for a different property for the same problem of blocked pipes from tree roots -the other company provided emailed video footage of the location of the problem and gave an upfront quote of the cost to remedy it as soon as it was diagnosed. Much more transparent billing.

I don't normally complain. I found them to be very expensive compared to my usual plumber who was unfortunately overseas at the time. Work was alright, not great but by no means bad.

We have used Hames-Reid on 3 occasions over a 3 year period. First time, work completed was excellent though we were overcharged (which was rectified upon contacting the business). We were charged for 3 hours of work to change a washer as according to Hames Reid, it was difficult ordering the washers. Having since done it myself, it merely involves a 2 minute phone call to other plumbing centre and then collection (from same suburb). Second time we gave the benefit of the doubt and they were efficient, on time, did a great job and charged the correct amount, so we were very happy. Third time, they provided a window of time where they would arrive and 20 mins into that window they rang to say they were not attending (due to issues ordering washers during the first job, (even though they knew I had ordered the washers for them). Poor form in my opinion as they had 2 days to notify me though waited until after the start of the appointment window. It should be common courtesy to phone prior and not wasted peoples time. There will not be a fourth time which is a shame as the work completed has been good.
