Always patient, compassionate and caring with my dogs. And the dogs actually want to go in when we go to the vet.

Absolutely disgracefull ! [redacted due to personal identifier] is very unsympathetic [redacted due to inflammatory statement] my cat was very unwell stayed for about 2 days communication was poor he ended up passing away ! No huge explanation on what happened I felt that my cat was not a top priority hence how sick he was ! And the pricing was absolutely over the top seems he charged every dollar he felt he could I highly recommend giving this vet a miss absolutely disgraceful! Even when I rang to find out how he was doing the nurses didn't seem to know what was going on . Very disorganized if anything the should be shut down!

Approximate cost: $1000

If you value your time and your money, I highly advise you give this vet a miss. The practise is old and still runs on a card system with no computers in sight, which often leads to stuff ups between staff members having to back date and find what medication your animal was on, an issue that would be completely eliminated if there was a computer system in place. The vet is a dinosaur, so opinionated and stuck in his ways. The nurses are delightful and so eager to please but always seem to cop the blame for whatever the vet has done wrong and he has no issue with making this known in front of clients, all so he doesn't look like the bad guy! The cost of everything is ridiculous, after calling around to other vets I have decided that this is possibly the most expensive vet in the eastern suburbs area! Sometimes I think he just adds on a few dollars because he can.. Whenever I have had a complaint about the cost it never gets cleared up, I feel as though he gets so many complaints he just decides to ignore them instead of owning up to them or apologising for any mistakes he has made. Overall not a great experience and I have found another vet!

Approximate cost: $70-500 for consults depending on the reason

I find that even one star is too many. The vet was absolutely horrible, he did nothing to help my dog who died during the night. They did not even CALL to let me know what had happened, instead I waited all day for the call and eventually called towards closing time to find out my poor dog had died. They were unsympathetic, rude, and charged a whole heap of money when all they did was lock my dog up for the night and let him die.

You poor thing, that is so horrible. Sorry for your loss.

Hi Missyb14, we were sorry to learn of your beloved dog’s passing and the most unsatisfactory experience you suffered as a result. Unfortunately, leaving acutely ill pets unattended (overnight) appears to be standard practice in most veterinary practices these days, which is simply deplorable. Given the obscene profits made by such establishments, one would expect a better level of care, concern and compassion directed toward the most vulnerable amongst us. In addition to this, the lack of communication and empathy appears shocking in your case and we really feel for you. We thank you sincerely for composing this review, which must have been terribly difficult for you to do in a professional manner. We wish you all the very best for the future and hope that you will open your heart up to another ‘furry-one’ in the future. Warm Regards, Reeces

Absolutely horrible service. My cat was taken in for the night to see if he was ok and what was wrong with him, and early in the morning he died. I was charged $1000 for absolutely NOTHING, all because they took him in for the night. I would have much rathered he had of been with me for his last night. I will never ever go to this vet clinic again, and I have been telling people of its horrendous prices and uncaring nature. Even my friends have experienced the same thing that I have. Never again.

Approximate cost: $too much!!!!!!

Hi Carolineb6, it seems that your experience is similar in nature to that of Missyb14. Having been through a similar situation, we personally understand the pain and suffering associated with such an event. The very thought of one’s beloved pet dying alone and frightened in a strange environment is enough to make one angry, but when you throw in a lack of empathy and massive costs, it just adds insult to injury. We are so sorry that you have had to endure such callousness. Wishing you healing through your grief. Reeces

I have recommended these guys to so many people. They are patient, professional and knowledgeable and have compassion. I was recommended to them by a family member and continue to go there even though I have moved away from the area. The head vet Maurice, answers all my questions and doesn't just fob me off. He has even referred me to a professor at the uni for a second opinion if I wanted, to ask what was necessary in procedures for an older dog.
These guys are the best, I wouldn't take my dog anywhere else in Melbourne, and neither would my brother with his dog! 

I've been here several times with my dogs. The vets are very knowledgeable and the staff are very friendly. Both times I've been for annual checkups and the dogs have had other problems (skin/ear irritations) and the visit cost me hundreds.

No offence but if you're only taking them for annual check ups and there s other issues that the vets found, you can't complain about the cost.
It sounds like another visit earlier for these skin and ear issues was waranted. if you had taken them earlier the cost would probably have been the same?

KateM1 04 Feb 2010

No offense taken. I'd like to add that the reason the visit was very expensive is because the vet gave an injection to treat the skin irritation instead of a course of tablets and didn't give me the choice. I have effectively treated the problem with tablets in the past and would have liked the option to choose. My dogs see the vet more than once a year. I take them whever there is a problem and I expect the vet to consult with me in terms of treatment options.
