We bought our upright freezer a few years ago (2010?). Within a year it would not freeze. Got someone out under warranty and had it was replaced. Twelve months later again same problem, got someone out and the freezer was fixed again. Their insurance wouldn't pay for the lost items which is covered under their policy. We sent them all the pictures because who keeps the receipts from their grocery shopping? To this day they refuse to pay stating They can't read scanned images...total bs. We took photos on HD camera and scanned them through to them. Our house insurance covered us the 2nd time no problems.

My advice would be to not buy the brand.

Approximate cost: $1200

I have an all refrigerator less then 1 year old where the lightbulb has gone.Users manual advises to call a service mechanic to change bulb.Seems a very expensive bulb as it will cost above $ 100 .Would have expected manual to give instructions to change the bulb.Tried for advise from Hisense service centre but no help there.Only repeatedly told me to call a mechanic.Poor service .

I bought a Hisense refrigerator in June 2010. It is a 460L and cost $800 on special. I wanted a top mount at the time so I had a limited choice in brands at the time in that size.

Since I got it, it has been unable to cope with a relatively full freezer and fridge. It is on the coldest setting (freezer and fridge share the same control) and bread goes stale and icecream goes to slop in the freezer even when both are half empty. I can see on another website that someone else had a similar problem and Hisense's response was to turn the fridge off for 14 hours! As I have no plans to travel or move house in the imminent future I haven't tried this as yet. I just don't keep anything in the freezer that needs a higher temperature maintain a frozen state which is annoying but I can't be bothered to buy a better quality product of another brand at this stage.

My biggest beef now to add to this, is that both plastic vegetable crispers developed cracks in the corners within 20 months and one has completely cracked off at 22 months. I rang Hisense to get replacements under warranty. I was told that they are consumables like the light globe! What?- an integral component of the fridge is classed as a consumable? My last fridge (Kelvinator) I had for 10 years and had never been a problem with this so it is not the user but the quality of their product. I believe most people would think that they would get more than 20 months out of their fridge when they are buying it and stated this to the Hisense Team Leader. I have asked him umpteen times to send me the company policy stating that crispers are consumables but it is apparently an informal verbal company policy as it isn't written down anywhere. (i.e. just that anything that isn't bolted in place is a consumable!) I have also asked him to have his Manager call me but apparently he is on indefinite leave outside the country! Sounds all very dodgy to me and that they are making extra revenue on replacement parts. So in summary, I will be lodging a complaint with the Office of Fair Trading Qld, but thought I might also warn some consumers out there about Hisense and their sub-standard refrigerator.

Approximate cost: $800
