I bought a Hisense refrigerator in June 2010. It is a 460L and cost $800 on special. I wanted a top mount at the time so I had a limited choice in brands at the time in that size.

Since I got it, it has been unable to cope with a relatively full freezer and fridge. It is on the coldest setting (freezer and fridge share the same control) and bread goes stale and icecream goes to slop in the freezer even when both are half empty. I can see on another website that someone else had a similar problem and Hisense's response was to turn the fridge off for 14 hours! As I have no plans to travel or move house in the imminent future I haven't tried this as yet. I just don't keep anything in the freezer that needs a higher temperature maintain a frozen state which is annoying but I can't be bothered to buy a better quality product of another brand at this stage.

My biggest beef now to add to this, is that both plastic vegetable crispers developed cracks in the corners within 20 months and one has completely cracked off at 22 months. I rang Hisense to get replacements under warranty. I was told that they are consumables like the light globe! What?- an integral component of the fridge is classed as a consumable? My last fridge (Kelvinator) I had for 10 years and had never been a problem with this so it is not the user but the quality of their product. I believe most people would think that they would get more than 20 months out of their fridge when they are buying it and stated this to the Hisense Team Leader. I have asked him umpteen times to send me the company policy stating that crispers are consumables but it is apparently an informal verbal company policy as it isn't written down anywhere. (i.e. just that anything that isn't bolted in place is a consumable!) I have also asked him to have his Manager call me but apparently he is on indefinite leave outside the country! Sounds all very dodgy to me and that they are making extra revenue on replacement parts. So in summary, I will be lodging a complaint with the Office of Fair Trading Qld, but thought I might also warn some consumers out there about Hisense and their sub-standard refrigerator.

Approximate cost: $800

I have a Tommee Tippee Ultimate Reassurance Monitor which I have had for 22 months but only used for 18 months. It came with a 1 year limited warranty. This month I noticed the night light and light that lights ups the temperature guage was broken. I rang Tommee Tippee expecting to have an argument that a costly product should at least have a 2 year warranty and to have to pay for a spare part, delivery and service. I was pleasantly surprised that there was no concern that the product was out of warranty and very pleased that a replacement part was sent within 2 days. Wonderful service- I will be telling others of my experience.

Approximate cost: $230 for item originally

I had gift vouchers for $190. I made many attempts to make an appt but got an engaged signal. I then left a message on 2 occasions and over nearly 2 weeks had no return calls. Eventually, I got through. They had just got a 2nd telephone connected following a recent online deal they had offered. That online deal 'get satisfaction'(complaint)thread has others that had a similar experience trying to make an appt for a service already paid for. Obviously they had overextended themselves & I was unable to get an appt for weeks. You'd think that the owner would appreciate any custom & try to have calls returned asap & to provide appointment slots for pre-paid services, so customers could be seen in a timely manner (otherwise don't solicit more custom by making online deals).

Prior to this, friends suggested we have a girly day & go to this spa whilst my toddler was in the creche. My friend also had difficulty in communicating with Mumma Bubba requiring chasing them up too. We had to wait several months before they could fit in 3 treatments & offer a creche spot. This appt was for a Sat (creche not usually open)but my friend was told that they'd now be offering this.
My friend having some doubts about this service, contacted them to confirm our joint appt to be told our time had been given away. I was told when I rang recently that they decided to not offer the creche on Sats and she hadn't been notified of this either.

Given these 2 bad experiences, I had no confidence in their services so I decided to ring the owner to request a cash refund so I could receive the services from another spa. I was told the owner was busy and that they didn't provide cash refunds but would have the owner call me. Most of the day had passed & I hadn't received a call & I was driving by so I went in and spoke to the manager. I retold my story & I was met with hostility and arrogance & told that waiting several weeks/months for appts was acceptable & that the appt was never cancelled. I had enquired earlier of the receptionist if their software was sophisticated enough to show cancellations, so they would have evidence of their error, but was told no, so the owner could not say this with conviction. With no apology she provided a cash refund but she repeatedly said that the appt was never cancelled & I said that then she was calling me a liar. This woman actually verbally said that I was a liar. When I said I couldn't believe her arrogance she rudely asked me to leave. I will not be recommending this spa to any of the other mothers I have contact with and suggest our dept at work no longer buy their vouchers. I have also seen that on that online deal website that there is also another complaint of a person having their appt cancelled on them without notification & I've heard a similar personal story. So just who is the liar?
