Three words. Fried freaking icecream! Yes please! Best fried ice cream i've ever had. Love love LOVE the pad thai and curry puffs. The satay chicken skewers are also not to be missed. One of my favourite restaurants

Owner is very personable and friendly. Gave us free food and drinks while we were waiting for a table. Been there several times and all the food we've tried is fantastic and pretty authentic. Fried icecream is the best I've ever had! Long waits, but very worth it!

LOVE the fried ice cream here as it is different to most places instead of being rolled in crumbs the ice cream seems to be in either a spring roll or filo pastry and is shaped into that of a triangle. Although, much more expensive it is worth it i would think.

The fried ice cream is amazing! What a great way to end of splendid dinner. I deducted a star for service as the wait outside was just too long, but if anything, that itself is a compliment to their popularity.

Holy Basil has quickly built up a reputation as THE Thai Laos restaurant in the south-west. While this reputation is deserving, I feel that there are BETTER restaurants in the area that does not require at least a 15 minute wait every night with much cheaper prices for the same quality of food.

The decor at Holy Basil is very modern but it is quite 'cosy'. The service has gone downhill though. The last time we came to eat, we had to ask for a jug of water 4 times. The drink servings has definitely decreased as well whilst the price remains the same.

The food is on par with other Thai Laos restaurants in the area - it is just served much more nicely.

What Holy Basil is famous for though is the fried ice cream. It uses puff pastry and I guess this is what sets it apart. However, they do charge such a premium price for it. It's nice to try once to see if it lives up to the hype.

Really great food. Must try fried ice cream and watermelon shakes. They don't take reservations so on a weekend/friday nights you will have to go exceptionally early to get a seat. Definitely worth it though.

Theres always a waiting list after 6pm and it is always filled with heaps of people. Food here is great, however the mango fish dish is over priced ($40.00). The popular dessert, the fried ice cream is a huge hit and delicious.

the wait was quite long as the restaurant itself was not that large, however it was worth the wait will the delicious thai food that was available.

Best tasting deep fried ice cream, they use a delcious puff pastry. the service however is very poor. other foods were very average considering the prices. The container the rice is served in very cute.

Strategic restaurant located in the popular Canley Vale road, good place ambience. It serves modern Thai dishes at average prices. It is quite popular during night time and also offers variety of cocktails. Nothing too extraordinary but definitely a good addition of restaurant in the area.

Approximate cost: $15
