so why only a 3 despite the excellent quality?
Friendly greeting when I walked in but when they realized I only wanted take-away the mood changed.
I ordered the chicken spring rolls, entree bbq pork with plum sauce, chicken and sweet corn soup, chicken with cashew nuts and small jade special fried rice. $50 in total but was charged 60c surcharge for paying with a credit card. I didn't notice any signs advising of the fee and was not advised when paying.
The girl who took my order was terse.
Granted I didnt order the spiciest of foods BUT the food is AUTHENITIC CHINESE. i.e bland. I had to add the left over sauce from the spring rolls which was amazing to the rice and the juices from the beef to the chicken dish in an attempt to add some flavour.
DEFINITELY NO MSG and EXTREMELY BUSY.

I recently went to the Jade in Kew to order takeaway. On arriving I was greeted and my order taken in a very uninterested way. The order was expensive but as the restaurant was absolutely full I assumed it was worth the expense. I was dissappointed as it wasn't. It was nice food, it just wasn't great food. It was on the bland side in comparison to other restaurants I had tried in the area. There was also no waiting area at all for takeaway which isn't a problem if you have their menu and you phone it in but as it was my first time I needed to go outside in the wet and cold to wait.

We get take-away from there and have never been disappointed with a dish so far.
The quality is great and flavours are beautiful. They do a great special fried rice and also have good valued lunch and dinner boxes which feed 2 adults satisfactorily. Satay chicken and Ginger fish are favourites.

Went yum cha for the first time and very disappointed with the quality of food. Its not the typical type of yum cha where they wheel piping hot dim sims out on trolleys, instead you tick your choice from a very limited dim sim menu. A few of the fried dim sims were way over fried and tough as anything. Also a few of the steamed dim sim dishes tasted unfresh, eventually we had to call one of the waiter's over and send one dish back because it was definitely off with a sour taste. We usually attend dinners there, on and off for a few years without any major dramas, but the yum cha experience definitely has made us think twice about going back there again.

Approximate cost: $4.8-$6.80 dim sims

I agree. Linda's service is so warm. She treats you like a friend. Now they are holding th 18th anniversary and offer 10% discount. ( a la carte only)
