A gem in Geelong! Amazing fresh bread, cakes and macaroons. The lunch is also delicious, with a great variety and the breakfast menu available for lunch. Coffee is great and the staff are good. One of the best places to go for lunch in Geelong.

Approximate cost: $16

I always love a place that does a breakfast menu during the day!

We love the coffee here, but that's not where it stops. This cafe is owned and run by a chef and his family and he makes all the bread and cakes.
The egg and bacon pies are awesome, and the sandwiches are too thick with fillings to get your teeth around!
It is very popular at lunchtime with the city workers, so get in early or you'll have to share a table with other people (and we have done that!).

Approximate cost: $13

I was eager to try this place out after reading so many reviews. We popped in for a quick coffee (and macaroon!). I had called ahead to check if they were child friendly and they advised that they did have one high chair and a toy box. My daughter loved sitting in the old-school wooden highchair, and I grabbed a few little toys which kept her entertained (and us free to enjoy our coffee!).The cafe has a lovely old fashioned tea room feel to it and I would love to come and try their high tea.

Our coffee was good, however the disappointing thing was that the waitress forgot to bring our macaroons, so we got them to take away. Not quite the same, but delicious nonetheless. Will give them a second chance soon!

I surprised my mum and grandma with a trip to high tea at the James Street Bakery. It's only held on the last Sunday of every month from 2-4pm, and you need to book and pay in advance (cost is $45pp). We dined on amazing sweets and savouries, all presented on mismatched china, along with plenty of tea. We also could take the leftovers home with us. The month we went it was booked out, and as such, it was quite noisy inside... that was the only downside. It'd be a great venue for a hens day or bridal shower, I think.

Used to love this place but recently disappointed to see the prices go right up and the quality go down. Serving potato crisps as the main side to a meal! Really you are kidding?

LOVE the homemade desserts here. Staff are always smiling and courteous. Gorgeous ambience, warm and cozy. Magazines and papers available. Don't forget to purchase a loaf of bread to take home!
