Always mediocre now graduated to terrible.

Been here before and thought the place was overpriced and average.

Regardless a tempting email lured me in.

The venue is excellent as it was a bank. Think wooded panels and stained glass. Very much Art Deco.
The food was only good (however the pork chop was excellent and huge)
The experience was tottally ruined by inefficient serving staff. Courses were mis-delivered for every course

So they're doing the $10 pasta deals currently so we went there for dinner. Umm... where to start.
So you can't call and book, coz no one picks up the phone. I had a field day trying to change my booking from 3 people to 2. So when I got to the restaurant, it was no surprise they hadn't got the message. But that was the funny thing. There were lots of staff, but they were all doing... something. Don't know if it was work related though. And they all just let the phone ring. No one cared to pick up. Add to this that when we got there, we were the only ones. One table was just leaving, and one other arrived shortly after us, but that was all the customers for when we were there.
Lots of people, no one doing anything?

Meal was ok. Chefs were happy and they made reasonably good food. And it was good value, but only because it was $10 deals. Not sure I would pay their normal = prices for the quantity of food that I got. Maybe they reduce it a little because of the deal.

Ok, returned there last night. And I can conclude that I had another bad experience.
The wait staff looked confused. In the end, one of them looked fed up and came and served us.
So we're sitting at our table with our menus and I'm looking around everywhere for someone. The other 3 people are having a bit of a chat. I have about 5 people look at me, then turn away and do whatever. After about 20 minutes of sitting there, the person who sat us noticed that we were looking around and nothing was happening, so she came back and took our order. What the??? I mean they had 2 people dedicated to folding napkins, but they didn't have anyone to walk around and check on people?
I will note there was a waitress on the phone, so at least I can say they were picking up phones finally!!!

Food: mediocre at best. If it wasn't $10 a pasta, I definitely wouldn't come here.
Our friends got some pasta that wasn't on the $10 list and it was very meh. The serving size was the same, so he was still hungry. They also had mojito drinks. Cup full of ice. You do the math.

By this time, I think the first person must have directed a second person, coz they were starting to get busy. So this other person sees that we're good and she sees that we've finished our meals and says she'll bring dessert menus. All well and good, except the look on her face when we note we are not having dessert. She was either surprised, disgusted, in awe or in shock. But it wasn't comfortable for us.
So we request the bill. She brings the card machine over and we ask if we can split the bill. She first says no, then says she can do card and cash, then says she can do card and card. Uh... duh!

Anyway. NEVER AGAIN.

Our first visit - Tuesday Lunch, with the restaurant about half full.
Felt very comfortable here - seems to be family friendly. All the wait staff were wearing blue jeans with their own choice of tops. Casual vibe to it, which was nice. The staff were friendly and service was fairly quick. We both chose the Prawn Linguine. We thought the serving was a little on the small side for $29 but the sauce was very tasty and presentation was good. Prefer our pasta to be cooked well but this was a bit too hard for us. Yes, we know about "al dente" but this was more raw than that. (Just our opinion - other people might like it like that).
Desert was a Trio of Ice cream, which was delish! If you do nothing else, check out the toilets in the basement. They have a special wheelchair lift that can be used by people who can't use the stairs (excellent addition - highly commendable) and the toilets have made use of the old vault area. I've never been so impressed with a restaurants toilets before!! Certainly a talking point.
All in all, we enjoyed the visit and would be happy to return - we would just ask them to cook the pasta a bit longer ... 8/10.

There's a lot to like about this restaurant. For starters it's in an old bank. They've kept the character, especially downstairs in the "vault" bathrooms. Nicely decorated, good food and good service. We had a bruschetta entree with fig and goat's cheese which was lovely and my pasta main was beautifully cooked and so tasty. Look forward to returning.
