We were invited to dinner at this restaurant for a friend's birthday on a busy Friday night. The restaurant had a big neon light with its name which made it convenient to find at street level. Parking is available on the street in front of the restaurant.

its not a flashy place in terms of decor, but its an okay place for a meal.

we ordered a banquet which was priced $28 per person - which was reasonably priced i thought.

we had chicken skewers with curry sauce, spring roll, fried rice, bowl of chicken sweet corn soup, sweet & sour pork, chicken with vegies and cashews and another beef dish ... desert was ice cream with pineapple or banana fritter.

the servings were a little on the small side for the amount of people who ordered the banquet at our table.

Our friends had told us that evening that previously the servings were much more generous.

service was very very slow, we waited a long time for the mains to be served ... sure i can appreciate its a busy night we went.

a word of advice, be careful when going to the bathrooms which are located outside, you have to watch your step

overall an okay meal, but would not be going back there in a hurry!

We walked in off the street right into the takeway area to be addressed by Jan herself. We we escorted to the front window table. The room is airy with very clean carpet and white table cloths (very important). Both my husband and I looked into the kitchen to see bbq pork meet being sliced by the chef so we ordered bbq pork with plum sauce. This is not what we normally order as a protein though the sauce was fabulous. The service was very quick which was good since I had low blood sugar at the time. We refreshed ourserves with the typical chinese (Jasmine) tea in beautiful clean teapot and cups (without the chips). The food was OK for me. No allergy ingredients, thank God. The only thing I would recommend would be larger portions. The size was too small however when we got up to pay we didn't complain about being overfull but the hunger had gone - yes just right. As they say smaller is the new big. We would differently go again when travelling to Essendon.

Approximate cost: $15
