ABSOLUTE RIP OFFI feel stupid for not reading the reviews first. The first red flag is the non refundable pay now call out fee of $130 which I stupidly paid. I asked the receptionist how much it could cost to service my units but she wasn't sure and coudln't estimate. I asked twice and now I know why she repeatedly dodged the question. I wouldn't have bothered with this company if I'd known the quote to service my 3 A/Cs would be over $3000. How difficult is it to push a jet of water through some pipes? It's absolutely not worth over $1800 (quote for 1 AC). So I paid $130 to "chat" to someone about my ACs.

We called Jim's Air Conditioning when air stopped flowing through one of the ducts in our house. I suspected that the damper actuator (a 24volt motor) had gone bung. The technician arrived very promptly, confirmed my diagnosis, then provided us with a quote - $1265, which he informed us was about 50/50 parts and labour. As I had already done some research on the part, I expressed surprise and showed him the part on a web site at a price of $35.49. The technician confirmed that I had identified the correct part, but was at a loss to explain the Jim's price. Including GST and $15 freight cost, I received the part in two days. Watching a YouTube video on installation, removing the faulty part (2 screws and an electrical plug), then reversing the process to install the new part, took 20 minutes including collecting my ladder and screwdriver from the shed. Saving -$1210.

I am happy to pay fair prices to support businesses but this is outrageous.

We are now wondering whether we should have shopped around before paying Jim's about $3,500 to do a major service on our system in May.

What high quality a rip off . The guy turned up , 5 hours late , to give me a quote for hydronic heating that Jims advertise on their website .
a van from Metropolitan Plumbing arrives . He has a 10minute look around then calls the boss who tells him to say it's around $45,000 (should be about $12 - 15,000).
He then leaves without even giving me a quote that I paid $132 call out fee.
Nice way to rip people off. I will not use any more Jims companies any more.

Avoid and find a local company. Paid $130 call out fee for them to turn it on and quote $1800 for servicing 2 units. Another company quoted $440 for same thing.

Absolutely disgraceful company. They appear to be linked to metropolitan electrical who I’ve had incredibly bad and expensive “service” from previously. They don’t advertise this fact.

Call out fee before doing anything of $130. Quoted two prices of minimum $2800 to even look at the unit. The company refused to give even a ball park quote over the phone, which given the quoted prices are part of “packages”, seems like they just want the call out fee for nothing.

Avoid this company at all costs!

130 dollar call out fee, but does not even look at the problem, starting quoting replacement units right away, one option is 23k another option is 22k, what a joke of a company

Be prepared to be blown away with these guys marketing tricks and service prices!! Don't expect to get any information on what is wrong with your air con until you open your wallet to blow away your money. Just to find out that you will be paying $990 service fee up front which pretty much involves 30 mins of cleaning and inspecting your unit. Then they will give you information on what is wrong which will be another charge on top of the 990 plus whatever parts are needed to fix it. You will be looking at the $1000s just for a small repair which could be a $80 pump. They will then quote on a new unit with some silly Silver, Bronze level option which are both the same on paper but one is quoted cheaper. The most funny part is to find out they want $9000 to replace a unit that is most probably fixable with some cheap Braemar unit that is worth $2275. It's mind blowing!!
This company are professional fisherman, fishing for your wallet. If you are prepared to pay a attendance fee of $132 just to be told to pay a service cleaning fee is beyond ridiculous. Extremely poor business practices. It is companies like this one that give a poor reputation to honest companies.
Do your homework please people. Avoid these guys even if they can come out first before anyone else especially in peak periods and hot days.
This is where a little patience pays off and saves you money!!
FYI- Got a local air con repairer and got quoted $99 service fee plus was told straight away what was wrong with the unit and how much to fix it. Guess what $300 later my wallet is still happy and my air con is spot on!!

Absolutely awful service - firstly they have a non-refundable call out fee where they basically said that despite being requested for an air-con clean and service they hadn't bought the necessary equipment to do the job. I said fine, ok - it just needs to get done and paid upfront for the work to be done for a few days later, then they called last minute and cancelled. Then rescheduled again and called last minute to cancel again. Then they tell me, despite booking in a clean an service weeks ago, they now can't do their job for another week despite having taken my money. Don't bother with these guys. Worst part is they half removed the cover on the air-con unit inside and didn't put it back on properly so now I'm sitting with a air-con with a cover that's half hanging off the wall and they refuse to do anything about it.

Spent $130 for a call out fee because I wanted them to look into why my AC was making strange noises. After 2 minutes of looking at the outside of the AC unit, they said it will probably need a replacement, and quoted me $20k. Absolutely joke, and waste of $130.

Don't fall for the quick service, 'within 1 hour' call you 'within 3 minutes' ...
All a cheap and fake marketing ploy.

Be very aware of Jims aircon repairs. You pay $130 upfront for call out fee. They came at 815pm. Too dark to go on roof you tell them what problem is from previous quote, then he admits they quote you NOT for repairs but basically so you purchase a new system. Quote was $3000 more than previous. Will never use jims for anything. waste of $130
