The guys at John Harbour know there stuff - they helped me select the right cuts and even gave me cooking tips too - they are simply lovely and the shop is always so clean and sparkly.

I wanted to take the time to give this review because of the excellent service I received today. The staff were very friendly and helpful, offering to cut the meat how i needed it and making very helpful suggestions about the best type of meat for my cooking needs

When we first moved to Ballarat. The first thing my husbands co-worker said to him was that you must try John Harbour Quality Butcher. They placed a bet that my husband would infact be over the moon with the quality of the meat. Well his co-worker was right. Since moving back to Melbourne my husband can not find the " Perfect" Butcher like John Harbour. The meat was fantastic and they always came out juicy and tender.
Highly recommend. What a fantastic Butcher.

I am new to Ballarat and a t a cooking class I asked for a recommendation to a good butcher. The answer was unanimous in favour of John Harbour, I have visited several times and the quality is indeed superb. The sausages and salami are the best I have tasted - really special. The location is a bit out of the way - it is quite a way along Lydiard Street and not near any other shops but it is in my opinion well worth the journey.

There's no better quality meat to be found anywhere. I've tried the others, John Harbour is by far the best. Do yourself a favour and try his produce, you won't be sorry.

Every time I go to John's shop the service is outstanding and John and his staff are very helpful.I drive out of my way to go there but I live near Bunningyong and the supermarket stock some of his meats too so I often buy from them. The meat is of high tasty quality and his produce is free range so I can eat one of my favorite meats pork and bacon and know the piggy wasnt in a cruel living standard ( John sources western plains pork) which is very important.This butcher, in my opinion, is the best and worth paying a little extra for.
