Excellent little gig venue. Been many times and even when full it doesn't take for ever to get a drink. Mid range drink prices and bargain priced tickets

Approximate cost: $10-20

Great for live acts, usually has the best music in Ballarat. The staff are friendly and nice and the owner is usually there to over-see things.
However, the lines can be huge, the bouncers are on a power trip (lifetime bans, are you serious?) and the place has become so popular there is no longer room to breath. Oh, and the backroom smells like the toilets by the end of the night.
But the music is fantastic! Where else can you hear David Bowie followed by Doctor Dre?

I've only been there a few times, but I know exactly what you mean about the smell!

Great live music venue. So good to see places like this in Ballarat. Its fantastic for the local bands and attracts quite a few of the big acts from around the country and the world. Definitely on the cars for every Saturday night out.

Great value for money, and it's not usually full of morons. I've never actually seen a fight there which is awesome. I have seen a lot of different bands there, and sometimes they have surprise sessions which is great. It's a different crowd to most of the other pubs/clubs in town and a lot more mature most of the time.

Karova Lounge is a great club to go to see local Aussie bands; particularly more alternative acts. The drinks aren't ridiculously expensive, entry fee for bands is a lot cheaper than in Melbourne and the bands they have are awesome. So far I have seen Sarah Blasko ($25) and Perfect Reason ($6) and have tickets to see Kate Miller-Heidke ($16). Something for Kate and Vasko Era are also in the line up for September. It has a relaxed atmosphere and the crowd are there for the music not to impress each other. The DJ is good too.

Approximate cost: $Free - $33
