My husband and I recently went to Kellybrook winery for a degustation dinner. Overall the night was great, some of the food a little disappointing, but mostly pretty good. We had wines match with each course and they were fantastic. If Kellybrook can get their kitchen as outstanding as their wines, they will be unstoppable

I had made reservations to stay in Dixons creek for a few days as a birthday gift to my mother so I researched the area of Yarra Valley well before I left and made bookings at the restaurants We were interested in going to & that were open and available for those days.

I came across kellybrook winery in my searches and was especially looking forward to dining here on the Friday of our trip for lunch and visiting the cellar door to try their cider,wines
It's about 20 minutes drive from where we were staying.
We arrived early for our booking so we went to the cellar door to try their cider,wines
which we were impressed with and bought some to take home with us.

After visiting the cellar door and purchasing our cider,wines
the restaurant opened.
The decor was nice,and it was nice and cool inside (hot outside).
The menu here really excited me and I was pretty sure it was going to be a great experience.
Neither of us ordered any alcohol.

The food we did have was tasty (quite oversalted) & dissapointing. It was old style non inventive & not as good as I thought it would be.

The desserts were a real disappointment and were extremely over priced and the flavours,textures were not quite right or very appetising.
Overall I probably wouldn't come back for the food only to purchase alcohol at the cellar door.
I also did not like the fact that if you wanted bread you had to pay for it (not a good sign when dining in a restaurant for me)

I was taken here for fathers day. We had a lovely three course meal in the restaurant as well as cheeses, crackers and wine tasting in the bar shed. We tasted a fair few products and left with several bottles of wine and two cartons of ciders.

The gardens were beautiful and we enjoyed relaxing out in the sun. A really nice day and well recommend checking out what they have to offer.

I love Kellybrook winery as I am a cider drinker from the UK! The apple cider here is a dry cider and is a very nice smooth tipple! The pear is not as sweet as some and is also very smooth. The cider champagne is also amazing and even won over my father in law who is a staunch beer and wine man! Well worth a visit as part of the Cider and Ale trail and should be on your list to visit (and first if you are coming from the Melbourne side of the Yarra valley). This winery also does tours and has a restaurant (but I haven't tried the restaurant yet!)

Overall our dinner at Kellybrook was disappointing. The food was very average and not at all what we expected from a winery. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the service was good, but the food a major let down.

I highly recommend anyone to take a day trip or evening trip for a beautiful lunch or dinner.
My partner and I dined her on a Saturday night and it was just so nice. There is a lovely dining room with slated floors and an open fire place, but it isn't too big, so that you feel overwhelmed! The service was super and the wine is marvelous. We bought a bottle of red and recieved a 20% discount, as we had dined in.
The meals have a slight European French feel to them and in Winter they offer a great dining special, see their website. Our meals were excellent, but i highly recommend an entree as the mains aren't the biggest sized meals. Perhaps the only downfall is that the meals didn't really come with many vegies. It was mainly focused on the meat.
Again great place, venue, great staff and an amazing red wine for the Yarra Valley.
