I've been looking for some new Eastern European restaurants in Melbourne for my husband and I to try. I did a search on WOMO and found Kluska. Based on the great reviews, we decided to trek to Dandenong to give it a go.
We arrived for our booking, were seated promptly and given lemon water and menus. The restaurant is clean and homely.
The menu isn't long but, for the first time diner, it makes it a bit easier to choose. We ordered the spinach and ricotta Pierogi and beef Pyzy for entree and the Golabki (cabbage rolls filled with beef/pork mince) and Zrazy (beef rolls stuffed with carrot and cucumber in a peppery sauce) for mains.
The Pierogi and Pyzy took quite a while to get to our table. We were a little worried at first that we had been forgotten but when we received the dishes we understood. These generous servings are made from scratch and come out piping hot (so expect a little bit of a wait time.) They were both absolutely delicious! We especially loved the Pyzy; they are moist and soft, but don't fall apart when you cut into them. We were intrigued as to how they were made.
Our mains came out shortly after. My Golabki serving was HUGE!!! and I had to ask to have half of it put in a doggy bag to take home because I just couldn't finish it (it was delicious and very reminiscent of a similar dish my Bulgarian grandmother used to cook.) My husband's Zrazy was also HUGE!!! and came with potatoes, cauliflower and beet relish. He thought it was delicious.
Even though we were stuffed to the brim, we still managed to squeeze in some dessert. I had the Makowiec (poppy seed cake) and my husband had the Paczek (traditional Polish doughnuts) with coffee. They were a nice, not overly sweet ending to the meal.
The service was friendly but not fast (this may be preferable to those who wish to have a long, lingering meal.) You don't get a sense of being hurried out the door, which is definitely a positive thing. I should also mention that the restaurant is B.Y.O.
Friendly people, nice atmosphere, delicious food and great value for money. We would definitely go back!
friendly family atmosphere, lovely traditional meal, good sized portions, will go back again. About time a quality dinning place came to Dandenong.
Excellent food every time we visit. The menu caters for most tastes and you would be hard pressed finding better value.
This restaurant is a real plus for Dandenong which desperately needs more places like this.
My magnificent husband took me here and I was blown away at the brilliant food, I especially enjoyed the flaki

Absolutely beautiful food, amazing service & great value for money. I love Polish food, but took 4 friends who had never tried it & they absolutely loved it too! I highly reccomend this restaurant!
Approximate cost: $12
It was a nice experience which reminded me of a lunch I had in Kracow. Nice honest polish meals and nicely presented. It is an experience I will be returning to enjoy again.
Approximate cost: $20
Kluska's delicious food and welcoming service was second to none - very authentic and very filling - so typically polish. You must try the Flaki and pierogi - just like babcia used to make. The cosy atmosphere and lovely food make Kluska a place I want to keep coming back to. keep up the great work, we love Kluska!!! :-)
Approximate cost: $20
The food was very tasty and authentic. A little bit greasy, but that is the way polish food is. It's as grandma would make it (as long as she's not too health conscious!).
The menu is a little limited in terms of food and especially drinks, but it's a small place, seemes not overly busy so I guess that is understandable. The food was great. Portions were decent. The place was very clean and pleasant. Overall a very enjoyable experience. Will visit again!!
Approximate cost: $20
Nice food, perfect dish of pierogi, quick, efficient and nice service. Wanted something of original
polish food - got what I expected, even more.
This journey to Kluska was good value for money.
One thing - it was very cold day and the heating wasn't sufficient.
It was toasty when we went, and it was a cold day too.
