friendly, efficient, on time and very pleased with the results. I'll go again. My daughter went on a different day, having just a wash, cut and blow dry and she was delighted with her new look. Very good value.

I noticed km Hair & Beauty, a new hair salon in Market Square, as I was walking past earlier in the week. They had a poster up advertising opening specials, and on impulse I decided to go in and ask if they could tone down the red in my hair. I explained that I wanted to go back to a light ash brown color. I was told they would do a quarter head of foils to lighten the red, and then do a color over to tone the red to brown, and cover the foils so they would be a lighter ash brown. The first thing I noticed was they didn't take down any details for a client card, which is something I think most good salons do to have a record of your treatments. There was no bench at the work station, so I had to leave my bag on the ground, and my jacket. My foils were put in, and looked a bit messy compared to what I am used to due to the actual foils being folded by hand instead of around the comb. When I was taken to the basin to have them rinsed out I was a bit concerned about my bag being left on the floor on the other side of the salon. They have a very open frontage, and are close to the mall. As the rest of the salon was empty I just didn't feel comfortable about where my bag was with so many people walking past. The second color was done, and then shampooed out, but they didn't use conditioner. I was very surprised by this. I have never been to a salon that doesn't condition after washing hair, especially after bleaching it. Back at the chair the hairdresser combed my hair and the comb pulled badly because no conditioner was used. I saw a couple of the bleached areas snap off close to the ends. My hair was cut and then only half dried with the hairdryer, so it was frizzy. I just wanted to leave. I pulled out my card to pay, and was told they don't have eftpos. There are no signs to point this out, and I had not been told when I booked. I had to arrange to come back later in the week to pay, which was very embarrassing, inconvenient and unprofessional in my opinion. When I got home I dried and straightened my hair. It was only then I saw that one side is very stripey and the other is patchy. The foils are not ash brown either. It doesn't look like they were done by a color expert, which is the way they advertise online.
I could not get in on the day I said I would come in to pay and tried to ring them to say I would be in the next day. The phone number they had given me wouldn't work. I tried a number of times, and in the end I had to call Market Square management and ask them to pass on the message for me, and I paid today. I learnt a lesson, no more cheap hair salons for me.
