Amazing slices- they are homemade. No real healthy choices for lunch however, so I go elsewhere for lunch. They are closed on Mondays which is annoying for uni students with few nearby options!

Was out at this cute coffee house this week with a group of friends and the service was great, prices are well below any other ballarat cafes and the slices are to die for. Great old music played, and plenty of old things to read around the place. Will be back with fellow walkers.

Coffee is good, some of the slices appear home made and the jelly slice is terrific. They offer some decent cafe style food and it's a cute, comfortable little 'diner style' cafe. HOWEVER, there's a woman who works there who makes you feel very unwelcome if you have children. They offer baby cinos (very cute in gender specific mini cups including marshmallows) and the menu specifies that they cater to kids, yet this particular woman makes you feel as though your kids are troublesome and even takes it upon herself to reprimand them for minor childlike infractions.  It feels as though you're being watched by an evil headmistress! This used to be a convenient meeting place for coffee catch ups but unfortunately we won't be back. Shame, the other staff are great.

I believe it says on the door well behaved and supervised kids are welcome? I have witnessed some very disturbing little kids running around there when i was out for my coffee there one day, your kids maybe? I find the staff extremely friendly so i am sure they would find it a difficult thing to speak to OTHER PEOPLES childrens in regard to behaviour they have seemed to create at atmosphere for everybody to enjoy but when the parents are enjoying themselves and letting everyone else in that shop be the watcher of them, it is the parents fault for wrecking that atmosphere is it not?

Our children are normal two year olds, being supervised by their mothers. It is never appropriate for a waitress (& a stranger) to involve herself in the discipline of a patron's child. If you can't deal politely, respectfully and pleasantly with members of the public (including children) then perhaps you shouldn't be working in the service industry. I say "you" since I suspect this response is from the waitress in question. Also, you seem to have missed my point. I'm not complaining about the atmosphere of the cafe in general, or the other staff, just you. Thanks for your attention, perhaps you'll take some of the feedback on board so that you can attempt to improve your service abilities.

Hi Chiaram, These situations are notoriously difficult to deal with and we empathize with both parties. We personally believe that it is the ‘parents’ responsibility to see that their children (irrespective of age) are well behaved and adequately supervised, to ensure that there is no disturbance to other patrons. It is however an unfortunate fact that many parents become ‘preoccupied’ and ‘distracted’ when out with friends and choose to overlook certain behaviours that can be disturbing to others. However if parents refuse to deal with such issues, then (unfortunately) an employer/employee may choose to intervene. However it is our personal view that comments should be directed to the ‘parent’ in question and ‘not’ the child, unless there is an imminent risk of danger to the child (or others). Given the growing rate of litigation within our courts, much responsibility is placed upon store owners/operators these days and therefore it is vital that they do everything within their power to avoid the (potential) for disaster. (Eg. Young children are easily tripped over and when waitresses are carrying hot beverages, this is a recipe for disaster.) Having said this, we find it interesting that ‘Kates39’ appears to have ‘signed-up’ with the express intention to comment on your review. This combined with her mediocre TrustFactor leads us to believe that she may be somehow connected with the business in question. Irrespective of the above, we appreciate your professionally written and candid review. Reeces
