We had a choice between a couple of different pizza places and chose here. It looks like an old converted pub or something and there is a large wooden counter which must have been the original bar. It's large and plenty of seating and there's a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Order was taken quickly and the four different pizzas we had were all very nice. We even swapped some toppings around between the chicken pizza, the meatlovers and the cappriciosa and all was done as we had asked.

They have pasta also and other meals.
Price was good - just over $50 for four people.

Approximate cost: $12 - 15

A great family friendly restaurant, we were warmly welcomed and quickly shown to our seats. The service was fast, and the pizzas were the best we've had in Ballarat - loaded with yummy toppings, and with not the heavy bready crust that plagues pizza shop offerings.

The children's menu was good value, and they were friendly and engaged with our child, ensuring that he felt welcomed.

We'll go back, the pizza won us over, and so did the relaxed atmosphere.

i have mixed feelings about this place. i have had tasty moments there i.e when younger at friends birthday and when older my aunties birthday but i have also had disgusting moments most recently when i went and ordered spaghetti bologna and found the sauce the be horrible very runny and tasted like homebrand tomato soup. i would be open to going there again but i am not sure what i am going to get until i start eating

Great food, quick and friendly service at a reasonable price . A great place to eat if you are in a hurry. The spaghetti with mushrooms is really yummy and the garlic and cheese pizza...... mmmmmmm

This place can get busy but the pizza is wonderful.
The staff can go two ways - either never there or ALWAYS there harassing you. One night I actually had to tell a young girl that i'd call out if I wanted anything. She was interrupting conversation between me and my partner to see if we needed anything when our plates and glasses were full!
Also, do not order a large table, you'll be shoved in the back corner with a few inches between your chair and the wall!

The food is generally good, some nights are better than others when it comes to risotto's. Pizza's are always good, specially the chicken tandoori. Dining in is alright, just sometimes if it gets a bit busy you feel like you've been forgotten about, but once ordered the food comes out pretty quickly. It can get pretty loud at times. Pretty good value all round.

Approximate cost: $15-25

I used to go here quite often, unfortunately I'm a little busy lately and have been unable to go nearly as often.
The food is great! I always get the Carbonara, and although the last few bites are swimming in oil, it is my all time favourite Carbonara, and i wish i had the recipe for it!
As for the price, an entree sized Carbonara is only $10.30 and ive yet to manage to eat the whole bowl! (I eat a LOT of food) and it leaves me full for quite some time.
The service is quick and they have plenty of people walking around to make sure everyone is ok (perhaps too many) and they are always willing to stop and make time for you.
When you leave some food on your plate, not only do they allow you to doggy bag, but they always ask you if you would like to!
idgo back for sure

I've eaten in and also bought take out many times from this store. Service has always been excellent, staff has always been very friendly, and the meals are cheap, quick and delicious.

Bad service. Photo's on menu look nothing like the food presented in front of you (when it does finally arrive).
Was told they order as part of the group from Melbourne. Our 'fresh' seafood was frozen prawns smaller than your thumb nail.
Had to practically beg their employee's to order drinks.
The place wasn't even 1/4 full, and still very bad service. Never again.

Overall this place is OK, but normally afterwards I regret coming here because sometimes the food is a little greasy and heavy. (thats just my opinion based on my own experiences). The service is pretty good and the staff look after the customers really well and its good value for money.

Approximate cost: $15 -20

We arrived just after 8:30pm on a week night. It took 20minutes for someone to come and take our order (nachos entree, Spag Bol and Marinara Pizza mains). Our Nachos turned up and took up about 1/2 the table - big plate, and small table. There was hardly any room for plates and drinks. 5 MINUTES LATER our mains turned up - we had hardly scratched the entree. On inquiring why the rush - were took they were closing at 9:30, and would we hurry up.

Approximate cost: $15

This typifies the ignorance of Ballarat dining. How utterly rude of them! If this is their attitude, then perhaps they ought to consider closing an hour earlier to avoid the time constraints of actually having to serve their customers.

great value meals what I like is you can take your left over as most of the time we don't finish what we've ordered which is a bounce for a family
if you are not even into Italian try Serf N Turf Fab size steak with seafood creamy topping

Approximate cost: $20

La Porchetta is what it is, a busy, quick and friendly place to have a decent pizza at a decent price. They don't pretend to be more than what they are and frankly, this alone sets them apart from most dining options in Ballarat.

It's a great place to eat early with small children, the staff are very helpful and impressively tolerant of the noise, mess and general busy-ness of small children. We really appreciate this and it provides a "safe" place for our children to dine out and learn important social skills.

Nice pizzas, fair prices, quick and friendly service. They're good for take-away too.

I visit Porkys every couple of months to pick up a pizza with the lot, with anchovies, extra crispy. The price has crept up over the years (I think it's $10.30 now) but it remains the best pizza in Ballarat.

The pasta here is also very good, and the gourmet pizzas are worth trying at least once! Staff are always glad to see you.

I usually order by phone and drop in 10 minutes later, to pick up the perfect pizza.

The food is fantastic, even though it is a very busy restaurant the service is fantastic. The only downside is you may have a wait for a table but it is worth the wait.

This restaurant is certainly a very popular place and probably the busiest restaurant in Ballarat....
You cannot beat the value for money of the pizzas and pastas
What more can I say!

My family and I went to this restaurant on a Sunday evening for an affordable enjoyable meal. As regular customers of the franchise we thought we knew what to expect, but when my pineapple pizza came out without cheese on it I was disappointed. I asked the waitress if it could go back to the kitchen to have cheese put on it as that's what pizzas have. The waitress returned minus pizza and told me that the manager said I could have cheese on top of my pizza but I would have to pay for an "extra". I don't care about paying 80c or whatever it is if I ask for an extra, but since when has cheese on top of a pizza been an extra. When I approached the manager she tried to explain that it was a franchise condition and her hands were tied, but I found her explanation lacking in sincerity and her attitude towards a paying customer appalling.

The food is always good. More often than not it is produced quickly too. The service could do with a lift, staff are often talking to one another rather than serving their customers.

This place is so close to my work, and makes one of the best salad dressings known to man. I often place a phone order, they've never got it wrong and the food is generally always delicious, I love their salads and bread - a good recommendation!

They make great pasta - My favourite is Tortellini Alla e Funghi !!!! ... Yummo !!!
... Love how they pop in some ' freebie ' doughy pastry bits ' : )
(Though don't like their garlic bread ... has a very artificial taste.)

Eat here on a regular basis with friends. Great value for money, staff are generally very friendly and helpful. Extensive menu to suit all tastes, pasta, pizza, chicken, steak, etc They even have a children's menu which is becoming somewhat rare these days. They make a great Cheese & Garlic focaccia! The food is always served quickly.
Can get very noisy when busy. Parking can also be a problem sometimes.

Have eaten at this place several times and have always been impressed by the value of the meals but was never really a fan of the pizza's in the past. I have recently decided to give them another go and the pizza was pretty good and still less than $10 for a large.
