Hi guys....
for those of you that have the Trauma E2400 gas heater I thought I would let you know of a recent problem. We were recently camped and I thought I would start the heater for the first time this season. The heater failed to ignite. I did all of the usual checks and consulted the manual and on line forums. The situation was - the fan would start, the thermostat was set to the highest setting, the ambient temp was cold enough, the solenoid would activate and the igniter was working. This had me somewhat confused as there are not too many things that can go wrong. I contacted Sunland and I must say they were great and tried to assist me as must as they could. The problem I had was I was in Newcastle NSW heading to Sale Victoria via Cooma, so Sunland attempted to get me into a local repairer that dealt with Dometic/Trauma warranty issues. Most places had a 3-6 week waiting list which was out of the question. Sunland then put me onto Lakeside Gas and Friges in Argenton, near Maitland. They originally had a 3 week wait but due to a cancellation could fit me in. The owner/operator - Michelle, agreed to meet me last Saturday, assessed the problem and concluded the gas solenoid was not operating on one side of the valve (I could hear the solenoid operating but it was only opening the outlet, not the inlet as well). She ordered the part, fitted it yesterday and I am happily on my way again.
Getting caravan appliances looked at and repaired, whether under warranty or not, can sometimes be a very difficult task. Tarot, James and Dave from Sunland did every thing they could and have my gratitude. Michelle from Lakeside Gas and Friges is a legend and did what other so called repairers could not. If you are having appliance problems, try and book well in advance as there are not too many repairers out there that know their stuff.
