A great casual dining experience.... PAY AS YOU FEEL. Service is not fabulous... but these guys are volunteers. Regardless highly reccomended!
I am still intrigued by the menu and the combination of foods I would never expect to go so well. Very healthy organic food is served and it is so yummy. It is an 'unpolished gem'
Was down in St Kilda for a conference, and was looking forward to trying this place out! Didn't disappoint. Enjoyed walking through St Kilda to get there, no wait for a table (I got there just before 7 on Friday night), was given water and a menu inside 5 min of sitting down, and had my meal inside 15 minutes (I think). Was really nice to relax and enjoy my book and my meal (beetroot curry with saffron? rice, delicious!). The portion size was a little smaller than I was expecting, but it filled me up fine.
the first time my new partner took me there I felt sick. I thought what a creep! fancy taking me to a place that looks like this. Ah!! that's where I was wrong folks. don't be deceived by the look of this joint. The food well and truly makes up for it and the IDEA!! it's overall more of an experience than dinner or lunch because you know you are helping people and a good cause and you go away feeling like you had a gorgeous yummy meal and as well as that a healthy one. and even a good convo with the cook usually. check it out! especially if you are vego and even if you aren't you will still love it.
Approximate cost: $7.50
this place is very good, you can pay whatever you feel like at the end. all the meals are organic and vegan. its kind of a hippy vibe but i dont mind that, its really fun!
I went here with two other very hungry friends, and we ordered a decent amount of food (all looking to put in $20+ ea) only to be abused by the chef when our food was being put onto our table - we had ordered the curry platter for 3 (yummy), the japanese pancake (delicious) and the devilled potatoes (interesting) and he thought we weren't going to eat it all and it would need to be thrown away... well we did eat it all. The servings are substantial, and you pay what you believe the food is worth.
It can take some time to be seated as it can be very busy. This is a vegetarian place.
Approximate cost: $pay what you believe it's worth
Had the warm Vietnamese Salad which was filling and quite tasty. Love the concept of this place. Next time I will try the Japanese pancakes. A great place to have lunch during the week when it's not too busy.
I love lentil as anything. The food is delicious, the location is great and I like the idea of paying what you think the food is worth. The service isn't great (quite slow and not particularly friendly) but the food makes up for it. I would recommend the mixed curry platter.
The vibe and atmosphere was positive, uplifting nd the food was the best. My food was original, vegetarian fare which I will definitely be returning to for more. Myself and my wife love it there, its very intimate
Approximate cost: $25
Yummy food, service is usually friendly (although a little slow, but who can complain?!), great atmosphere. Can be crowded and sometimes you have to wait ages just to get a table.
Approximate cost: $as much as you want (don't skimp though just because you can)!
