Wow, I hear the cafe has new owners and they are already ringing in the changes. Went last week and the pastizzi are very professionally displayed in a curved glass heated counter. they look great under lights. The counter area has also been retiled in red and black, to go with the theme of the cafe. The place looks a lot cleaner, fresher and the staff now wear uniforms with a logo on the front. They tell me they are now going to start dressing up the walls in prints by local artists, depicting local buildings. The pastizzi may sound expensive at $1.50 each but you save $2.00 by buying by the dozen, $16.00 instead of $18.00. The new owners apparently grew up on Crown St and have been involved in Pastizzi as long as the cafe has been in operation.

Approximate cost: $9.00

Very simple, great value, unfortunately quite fattening but incredibly yummy food in a no-frills but comfy environment. The various pastizzis (both sweet and savoury) are what keep me coming back. They're delicious, and so is the sauce that comes with them. You can even buy whole bags of them to take home and put in the freezer for later...
