A mix of asian and european influences, matteo's is classy and modern.
Your experience is likely to commence with some lovely airy yet slightly chewy crust artisan bread and butter with some Japanese seaweed sprinkles.
The menu is extremely innovative and sophisticated. It was really impressed at the creativity and ingeniousness applied to the food, as well as the sourcing of high quality ingredients.

Scorched Mooloolaba cobia sashimi with shisho-ponzu dressing - top grade fish treated with extreme care and thought to showcase its unique characteristics
Spanner crab wonton ravioli with Asian coleslaw & tom kha galangal sauce - the delicate sweet crab went really well with the creamy sauce and refreshing salad

Having consistantly getting top reviews in the age good food guide since 1996 I decided to choose this for my birthday.We decided to go for the degustation but as there are things I do not eat I had to email the restaurant my dietry requirments which they were more than happy to comply with. A lovely restaurant with great service, food,atmosphere,decor and very comfortable which is extremely important to me. I enjoyed the dinner and would definately return.

Five of my girlfriends and I caught up for dinner here. It was the perfect place, with a great round table, beautiful decor, and an atmostphere that was neither too quiet and stuffy, nor too roudy. The food was divine. I had a spatchcock special while others had lamb or duck as mains. The sides were all superbly prepared too. Dessert were pretty special - I shared a sample plate which was perfect. All very rich food that you don't need to eat too much of!
Overall a great night - think we'll be going back there sometime soon,

Just 2 of us ate there and we had a very enjoyable meal. The quality of the food was top notch. The meals were not huge but were prepared perfectly and the presentation was excellent. We came away feeling very satisfied. The service was first class - we were never rushed but we felt looked after to just the right extent.
