Was told about the gingerbread hotcakes so I came to try it and it really tastes amazing. Really unique flavour, and reasonable pricing.

Food (Fritters - Excellent) - the portion of the food just perfect for me + coffee (Latte) was amazing. For the service - absolutely Thumbs up! From arranging table for us, gave us the menu, took our order and delivered our food..everything was good! They have extremely friendly staff (very welcomed). Keep up the good work ;)

We went along to this cafe recently for Sunday brunch with our friends recently and found it to be quite an interesting discovery. The cafe at 10 am was quite bustling with diners.

We found a table and our young kids were looked after by having high chairs provided. Best of all there were toys and books for young kids to play with on a mat in the middle of the small back room.

okay .. now the food ... we ordered our cooked breakfast, consisting of eggs benedict with bacon which came on lovely piece of gourmet bread ... okay not the biggest of portions, but delicious nonetheless. A home made version of hash brown was also served which was tasty.

I ordered a chai latte which was a little spicy for my liking but drinkable then later I finished off by having a skinny latte which was luke warm .. personally I like my coffee hotter!

Service was fantastic!! 5 stars easily!!! Such friendly wait staff, especially one gentleman who cleaned up the floor after my young baby dropped his toast on the floor! I apologised to the waiter, who was so friendly and smiling about saying its all good,

I would recommend this place as its kiddie friendly, but if you want a “BIG” breakfast maybe skip it … but instead you will receive a smaller size breakfast which is gourmet and delicious!

Went here expecting a lot as I had read other reviews elsewhere that praised it highly. Good cafe but I am not sure it lived up to the hype. Servings were an ok size - I was expecting bigger according to reports - and coffee was not impressive. Coffee was a bit bland and made to specified strength and fairly quickly, but the blend or beans used was not to my taste. Nothing wrong with the coffee making as the capp and mocha were made quite well. We didn't really like the coffee itself though. Breakfast was tasty but did not live up to the description on the menu - came out in a pile of vegies and eggs and didn't appear to be as stated on the menu. Good value overall though and nice interior. Might go elsewhere for a more generous serving though.

Approximate cost: $17

A bit hidden but worth looking for! The food was good and enjoyably. I went at lunch time, not sure about other times. The coffee could be better I think. Also the staff could have been a bit quicker. Overall is was good though :)

Visited Miss Marmalade on the weekend for a birthday breakfast and found it to be an enjoyable experience in whole.
Pros.
- Big helpings
- Tasty food
- Fairly friendly service
Cons.
- I asked for my meal to come with the rosemary bread instead of regular toast and the waitress said she was pretty sure they didn't sell it when it was written in black and white on the menu in front of me??
- My meal didn't come with the bacon it said it would and when I told our waitress this she told me that my meal didn't come with it and that she'd order me some (which would have been extra). I ended up grabbing the attention of another waitress and confirming with them and the additional charge was then removed
- Coffee was served almost at the end of the meal instead of the start, luke warm and strong when asked for weak.
All in all it was good but I think their staff need to read their menu from time to time!!

Approximate cost: $20

Its important that wait staff are familiar with the menu so they can advise customers accordingly.

Delicious! What a great find.
Hidden away in the inside streets of Brunswick, is a real local gem. Despite its out of the way/hidden location, this cafe still manages to see a lot of brunch traffic go through its doors - testament to how good the food and service is.
There are 3 seating areas. Out the front courtyard next to the hedge boxes and under the umbrella shade; inside the front room (plenty of seating at timber tables, a communal table or benches looking out of the windows at the street scape); or in the back room (a more contemporary/lounge type space which very different from the classic bistro feel of the front room, with its white cube ottomans, white walls and minimalistic feel)
Menu wise, we ordered the Farmers' Market $15 & Hotcakes ($14). I was blown away by both the thought, quality and serving generosity when the plates came out.
Recommend this place highly without reservation.

As per the previous writer, we also found Miss Marmalade lacking in the friendliness/service area. (Pennyroyal next door, now closed as of about October 2011) had it in spades. Also, single diners are muchly ignored here, couples appear to be served first.. more $$? Through 2011 they often just 'close when they feel like it' in the afternoon. JUST when we want a coffee, hence we are discovering more user-friendly cafe's in Brunswick. And it IS a competitive business, you do develop great loyalty somewhere and 'spread the word'.

Approximate cost: $13- 17

that's interesting how they'd preferentially sit couples to get more money!

Great decor and lovely flower boxes but I got tense with all the hyper wiping of the tables. Never thought a cafe could be too clean but this is. Not as friendly as cafe next door, Penny Royal where dogs, babies, and adults are accommodated.

Approximate cost: $10
