I've been coming to Missing Link for years! It's moved from the basement of Bourke st to an upstairs shop a few doors down (and merged with Collectors Corner). They stock a wide range of punk and alternative music, as well as psychedelic, indie, funk, etc. The vinyl section is pretty good, however prices can be pretty steep for the newer stuff.

Missing Link stock lots of punk and metal, including death metal that you wouldn't find at too many other places. They also have a decent selection of music DVDs and t-shirts. The staff are always friendly and know their stuff. The shop sells tickets to some good gigs too.

Very good for hard to find, far left of center releases. Great staff who know their product and are able to recommend other releases to try as well. Prices aren't overly competitive, but as there aren't many businesses supporting this sort of musical community, it isn't an issue.

Approximate cost: $28

Missing Link is a great independent music shop in the city, and the first place I go to to buy CDs. They have a huge range, including a lot of titles that you might not find anywhere else. The prices are competitive, but sometimes they do lose out to the big chains (only by a couple of bucks though). The staff are great; they know heaps and actually have time for you.
