This is a good place for those who look for vegan dishes and wants something healthy every once in a while. A very nice cafe, nice people and place.

One of our favourites. A beautifully environmentally conscious cafe featuring amazing vegan dishes and fab raw meals too. A must try for those with health in mind.

Someone in my family is vegan and we have been trying to find a good restaurant that caters to this. Will have to let them know and visit soon. Also their meals sound great and good for your health.

A visit to this place could transform your idea of what vegetarian or vegan food means.
It is a small cafe. Very grassroots in terms of the surrounds, atmosphere and 'decor'. Expect raw exposed brickwork, unpolished communal timber tables, milk crates, metal stools. The dining space is right next to the kitchen bench, so expect some interaction/shoulder rubbing with the cafe staff.
Atmosphere and surrounds aside, expect a hearty, interesting and delicious meal.
We had umami mushrooms (variety of mushrooms cooked and served on homemade pumpkin, spinach and sundried tomato polenta bread, with goat's cheese, thyme and chilli oil) and Sweetcorn ricotta hotcakes with slow roasted cherry tomatoes, house made basil pesto & sourcream. Both were delicious!
A relaxed and delicious experience.

To me personally going to a vegetarian or vegan restaurant is certainly last on the list. However reading your very detailed review ... its help me realize the meal you had sounds quite tasty!

tucked away behind bustling carlisle street lays this hidden gem. the best coffee and house made chai blend you'll find for miles. they have everything from organic cows milk, bonsoy and almond milk - all the options for all foodies and those with specific food intollerances alike. my son adores their vegan muesli cookies, juices and sustaining smoothie options and all of their breakfast options are to die for. worth venturing out for, train at balaclava on carlisle street or parking at woolworths next door from the alleyway.

Approximate cost: $15

Whoever wrote that the coffee mile was on Carlisle street obviously hadn't walked down the alley to Monk! I have never had a bad or average coffee from this place, its always fantastic. Their selection of home-made baked vegan goodies are delicious and the meals are equally good. The place can get a little crowded when its full and you may have to wait for a table but its worth it. They have also extended their hours.

This is a quaint little place hidden down a back lane. It has some interesting vegan food choices. I did find that the staff had a bit of an attitude which didn't sit well with me so not sure if I would go back.

Approximate cost: $16

A great vegan selection of food, so if you happen to be vegan I think you are in for a treat. I had some Moroccan dish which was bursting with flavour. The coffee was different- I could detect a nutty flavour. The interior is somewhat small but good things come in small packages. The quaint interior is a perfect setting for a delicious home style meal.
