I did not have to wait weeks for a quote as he turned up the day I rang. He then returned within the timeframe he had quoted and completed the work to a very high standard. Not only can my sashcord windows be opened and closed easily but my apartment is so much quieter. Thank you Greg.

Thank you Kaye,
That quietness is what you get after installing '6.5 hush'' and draft seal to your existing Windows on Chapel street.

I had a double sash window in my old Edwardian house i had bought that had a broken spring and so would never stay open at a certain point and also was very difficult to even open..almost jammed up. Then one day I forced it a little to shut and the whole thing smashed down luckily no glass was broken. I called Greg and he came the very same day..a Saturday..remarkable! He didn't have the special British part/cord length required that day but had to order it in. But he did repair it so at least the window could freely open and close with hardly any effort .. the promised he would call me when the part came in. I was so used to some trademen never returning I must say I was dubious. But true to his word Greg called and returned to instal the correct length. Im so grateful. Super friendly and reliable. Thankyou Greg. I will get him to instal this in my other window also..amazing ..you just need a finger to lift it! Perfect!
Approximate cost: $250
Greg repaired 9 sash windows for us that were malfunctioning. He supplied and replaced one lower window that had rotted, painted the exterior side of it, + supplied and fitted a fly-wire screen. We found Greg very reliable, quick and professional. Highly recommended.

Thank you Greg for travelling to our Guesthouse in North East Victoria and solving the problems that we have been having with our double hung sash windows for a long time. The imported heavy duty lift balances are working a treat and we are only too happy to recommend you to future clients. Owen and Judi Richards April 2014
I had the spiral balances of 7 sash windows replaced and draft sealed. Now the windows open very smoothly with little effort. They are also draft-free and no longer rattle when it's windy. Greg was reliable and cleaned up after he finished. I was only available on Saturday and he completed the job over 2 Saturdays.
repaired large window which was a very complicated job. No glass companies would handle it but Mr Sashcord of Greg McCarthy Carpenters was able to complete a fine job to our best satisfaction. We highly recommend his skills. I understand he is the only man in Melbourne capable of fitting this type of glass window. Derrick and Flame Junkeer
When we had an extension done to the rear of our house the builder offered to also double glaze the 2 existing bedroom windows . Being winter, we did not discover till some months after the builder had left that he had not made any adjustment to the weights on the sash cords and the heavier windows would no longer stay open without being propped up. I called in Greg who quickly diagnosed the problem. He removed both windows, refitted the sashes with the correct weights and completed the job in the one afternoon. Greg phoned early in the day when he knew he was going to be slightly delayed. He was pleasant to deal with and did a very efficient job on the winows. It was great to deal with a sash window specialist.
Approximate cost: $500
I had 7 double hung windows serviced. (new rope in all of them.) They were completed in a day. Mr Sashcord did a wonderful job. He had a drop sheet and swept up when he had finished. Now I can open all my windows.
Approximate cost: $2000
The work performed by Mr Sashcord was to replace the sashes in two windows in the house. One was particularly difficult to get to above a staircase. The job was completely with the utmost profession. whilst the actual sashes were flown in from the UK, Mr Sashcord put some temporary ones in so we could still use the window. I could not fault his work at all. Also, we found him to be a lot better priced and available than others.
Approximate cost: $660
Greg repaired a number of very old double hung windows and successfully installed draft seal to both my doors and windows in a very high wind area surrounding Sydney harbour

After having a tradesman come and unsuccessfully try to fix 5 windows for us four years ago (the springs were gone and they weren't staying up), we rang Mr Sashcord who fixed them and did an excellent job, and the windows are still working perfectly today Feb 2012. Thank you Greg, we're very happy.
Approximate cost: $can't remember but very reasonable
Complete service and full re-cord to 2 double hung timber windows with 6.5mm hush glass and red hush side panels. Draft and seals. Very happy with finished result.
Greg was extremely professional - he was timely, courteous and respectful. He did a great job and did so efficiently and thoroughly. I have no hesitation in recommending him.
Thanks Linda for your kind words. I can see you were extremely happy with your new 'Draft Seal' and 'Rattle Stop' installed on your double hung windows.

Very difficult to find experts to do this sash cord replacement. Found Mr Sashcord was punctual, efficient and courteous.
I had 6 timber double-hung sash windows repaired. Some of windows were previously painted shut, and those that weren't, wouldn't stay open by themselves - they needed to be held open with a wooden spoon. I can now open the windows easily from both top and bottom ... and they stay in the open position. Greg even fixed something else, totally unrelated, without being asked. Both Greg and his assistant were very approachable, courteous and respectful. He arrived when he said he would, provided a high quality of workmanship and a very efficient service. I have no hesitation in recommending Mr Sashcord.
Approximate cost: $1500
