Baby ringtail possum

My partner and I found a baby Ringtail possum in our backyard last night. We are aware at this time of year it's quite common to find possums on the ground. We took it inside, ensured it was warm and we fed it water and some mashed banana as it was hungry. This morning it was doing quite well, it was moving around, chirping and taking the food and water through a dropper. Rang Wildlife Victoria who advised us to go to Greencross vets in Ringwood North. Took the baby there and in no more than two minutes they came out to tell us "unfortunately it was too young, couldn't save it". Didn't even give us the option of taking it back home to at least give it a chance of survival. My partner contacted Wildlife Victoria to vent his disappointment about what happened, and the lady he spoke to at Wildlife Vic said the Vet that assessed the possum may not of been competent enough to assess a native animal. He asked why did an incompetent person assess the animal when it should of been someone that knows how to care for native animals. Wildlife Vic advised they would no longer recommend native animals to go to Greencross Ringwood North. Hopefully they uphold that to ensure the animals are given a chance of survival.

I have taken many of my dogs here over the years & the level of service is always fantastic. All the staff are very friendly & knowledgeable. I'd recommend them to anyone. The only time I take my dogs elsewhere is if I can't get a last minute appointment.

I have been going to this vet for a number of years now with 2 dogs and a budgie! They have recently changed to Green Cross (a chain). I recommend the vets Rebecca and Colin because they are caring and understanding no matter what your situation and genuinely have a caring nature towards our fur-kids. I have not experienced the same service and care with the reception staff and don't purchase food/medicine there as it is too expensive. After all, we are there for the vet care so that is what is most important.

I've been going here for over 15 years, firstly just with my cat but then both dogs and cats. I have 3 labradors and 2 cats and wouldn't trust any other vet with them. The vet nurses are great and Rebecca (one of the vets) is so caring. The cats don't really like going but the dogs love it - they'll always get pats and treats and they think it a wonderful place to visit.

Decided to try this Vet clinic after hearing great things from friends, also the high recommendations here and I was not disappointed! Staff are friendly and helpful, whether you ring them up for advice or during consultations. On our first visit we were given a folder containing our puppy's information like when the next worming, vaccinations are due etc., consultation is not rushed like many vets that I have tried before and place is very clean as well. Even though it's a 20 mins drive and we have much closer vets around, I would not hesitate making the trip to use them as our regular vet from now on. A couple of weeks after our consultation, we got a call from the vet to check up on how our puppy is doing, cannot ask for more, highly recommended!!!

Approximate cost: $43 consultation/$50 long consultation

Friendly and caring attention to all animals. Our pet as well as local wildlife have been treated by caring and enthusiastic staff. They call you with updates on care and are always willing to give phone advice. Love the note board on the footpath with a word of advice on pet care for passing motorists.

I phoned this business looking for a particular product whose brand they stocked. As it turned out they couldn't obtin the product I was looking for, but the troubel they went to to find it for me was way beyond the call of duty and I was very impressed.

I wouldn't take my boys (dogs) anywhere else. One of my boys was ill this week and they squeezed me in straight away. They are so friendly, don't push products on you and suggest a few treatment options for you. They understand that your pets are more than occasional friends.

Approximate cost: $50.00
