I finally got to try the dim sum in this restaurant by chance. We were driving from the horse shoe bridge from the city to the Roe St CPP car park as we had intended to go to ain't her dim sum place, one which I know opens at 10am. I imagine my surprise when I saw Northbridge Chinese Restaurant open at 10 am and with no queue! we decided to take this opportunity it give it a go after seeing long queues many times before. We were promptly seated. Nice table near the kitchen as we almost always got first dibs of items coming out of the kitchen. We order steamed prawn dumplings, squid tentacles, shanghai dumplings, bbq pork bun, egg tarts, yam fritters, prawn rice flour rolls. Bill came up to $46 but you can only pay by credit card if you exceed $50, and even then there is a 2% surcharge.

all in all, it was ok dim sum and stock standard. I would eat here again but definitely will not queue for it

Revisited the Northbridge Restaurant for Yum Cha brunch after reading the positive reviews on WOMO. Last there maybe 3-4yrs ago.

It was average then and it was average on Sunday. Food were fresh and generally tasty but the quality was not there.

Service was good but we were there between 11am and 12pm, before the main lunch rush on Sunday. However, like many of the Yum Cha places, staff just need some basic training - move the Dim Sum trolleys around the dinning room rather than just up and down one side. Quiet a number of tables on our side had to call out to the trolley operators. Don't keep offering savoury Dim Sums when people are eating dessert - it gets annoying to keep saying no and remain pleasant after the 10th time.

In Short, much better than the New Moon but the bench mark for me is still the Dragon Seafood Chinese Restaurant on James St.

The best Chinese we've found in Perth, and the first good one we found after moving from China. Excellent steamed and fried meals. Does get extremely busy around lunch time on weekends so get in early all you'll have a long wait.

This is one of the few places in Perth that have a decent yum cha. The only problem is that there are no bookings - get a number and queue up! The food quality is very good by Perth standards with yum cha staples such as har gau and siu mai being rated as very good, however not up to the quality you would find in Sydney or Melbourne.

The decor is what you'd find in a Chinese restaurant (okay with reasonable lighting) and the service is adequate. Unfortunately some of the ladies pushing the trolleys forget to stop by so keep an eye out for what you want! Also beware the dishes that have travelled enough to accrue frequent flyer miles because no one wants them. They kept coming around with the same items that did not sell in the hope that you would eventually give in and just take what's on the trolley or tray!

Price wise better value can be found in Melbourne or Sydney for yum cha, however if you live in Perth this is probably the place to visit. We had six adults and two kids and the bill came to just under $200 and we were not full - we just ran out of time waiting for the right dishes to come! (We were told when asked, yes it is coming but it took too long).

Be aware that they also add a surcharge for payment by credit card.

Approximate cost: $8

the service is not the best on the street, the food is value for money. the restaurant has daily soup, fruit (mainly orange) and chinese style dessert after meal.

Approximate cost: $15-28

The A list for dimsum in town. Various types of dimsum and special menus are available on the week end. A busy restaurant especially on lunchtime. To avoid long queue, better to come at 10-11 AM on Sat-Sun.

Approximate cost: $6

The dim sums there taste delicious and authentic! Service is good too! The only down side is it get crowded very fast and you'll have to wait outside for table.

One of a few Chinese restaurants in Northbridge that's big enough to have wedding banquet. Being there for wedding, nice food. The dim sum is quite nice too. Always busy on weekend.

Approximate cost: $20
