7 reviews about Olmecs Bakery Bar Cafe

My favourite times at Olmecs are going there after dinner for a tea or hot chocolate (they do a wicked chilli chocolate) & dessert (love their sticky date pudding). In winter, its great to sit in front of the fire.
However, service & food at Olmecs can be variable.
I bought a Spreets voucher- whilst I had no issues with service, the meal took about 45 minutes to appear.
THe parma night was good, the paella night was so-so.
Overall, Olmecs is a good local, but could do something to improve its consistency of offer.

Went to this cafe after buying a Spreets voucher and wish I had read some of the reviews on Urban Spoon beforehand. This place is a nightmare. The service is atrocious, the staff are rude and unaccommodating, and the food bland. You have to beg for a glass of water, and don't even think about finishing your meal - the waiter took my partner's plate away while he still had cutlery in his hands and was chewing!! What an absolute disaster.

Really enjoyable experience. Known for their breakfast it can get really busy, but not usually too long to wait for a set. Most certainly will go back. Staff and friendly and my eggs are always well cooked ... what more can you ask for?

Everytime i have been to Olmecs it has been packed. (usually for breakfast). Generally seated quickly and service is good. Poached eggs are nice but sometimes a bit cheap on the toast. Prices are reasonable.

Approximate cost: $13

We were seated very quickly, but I think we were lucky as I noticed a few people loitering around waiting for tables throughout our brunch. The man at the register was quite rude and abrupt, but the other staff were friendly, albeit a little slow. The food was lovely. They bought the food we ordered but forgot about the drinks. Once reminded they came quickly.
