3 reviews about Omega Climate Systems

Had the Omega Climate Systems ducted heating unit installed just over three years ago. Selling point at the time was that it comes with ten year warranty.
Just recently it decided to start playing up and it was strange since heating wasn't used for some time (since it's summer time) but the unit just started humming loudly (some fan) but there was no air flow in the house. I guess it was some kind of internal cooling.

Called Omega and arranged someone to come out and take a look.
Repairman showed up a day or two later. He went straight for the only control board in there (felt like he already knew exactly what the problem was even before taking a look and it was something he gets to do a lot :P)
Quickly replaced the flimsy looking thing and charged $410 for it. Add $170 call out fee on top of that.

Then it turns out that those ducted heating units have only three year warranty (I don't replace these things that often so I don't know what a standard would be but that just seems weak) and conditional 10 year warranty (that calls for regular servicing and so on).

After the repairman left I did a bit of snooping around and found the same control board for about $250 and one place that charges only $120 if you send them the damaged part since they try to recycle those things.

Sent an email to the company with these details and never got a reply.

So, four months out of three year warranty a part burns out for no reason and you get charged hundreds of dollars for the same flimsy part and few minutes of work.

I just feel ripped off and stuck with substandard heating unit. Stay away from this stuff...

Wow you obviously have a lot of time on your hands to write a review like this if you can show me where it says 10 year warranty we will refund your money

Amount of my free time doesn't play any role in this story.
If you drop by I'll show you the booklet that comes with the unit. Last page describes 10 year warranty period (conditional) as described in my review.
If you believe that it's ok for a heating unit part to burn out for no reason after just over 3 years just say so.
I'd be happy to receive refund.

Heater stopped working over weekend, they found the thermostat cable broken and they replaced it for me, within 2 days. Found the service technician Luke to be helpful and polite .

Approximate cost: $98

Our ducted gas heater did not switch on. I left a message for a call back on the weekend, the call back was promptly done the first business day after the call.
I was given an option of later in the week(this the technician told us was because they had only one repairman at the time), I chose to take the following week, there was an appointment for the Tues between 1-3. I was phoned and the time confirmed on the Monday. The service guy Luke arrived at 12.30pm, he was very helpful, efficient and competent. He answered all my questions and was most pleasant. He serviced the heater and was finished within half an hour.

Approximate cost: $177
