Having actually eaten in Athens, Santorini, Mykonos, Rhodos (Rhodes) and Cyprus, the only thing Greek on our night, was the Bouzouki Player Nine of us dined and we had the Olympus Banquet @ $39.90pp. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. The dips are obviously bought in not made on premise, they tasted like ‘Chris’ ‘ dips. Which can be bought from my local IGA. The rissoles could be had any Sunday in any Australian back yard bbq, the sausages had commercial skins on them and had little or no flavour. Everything was very Australian and we had to repeatedly ask for lemon to squeeze.
Our wait staff were pleasant and helpful but only one could speak a little Greek. Most were European, probably on 457 visas and to them it was a job, not an experience. All the cooking staff were Indian. No I am not being Racist, I go to Curryville in Morningside for the best Indian food I have eaten. All the staff there are Indian, as you would expect.
Greek people are renound for their hospitality, their ‘Philoxenia’ “Friend to a stranger”. I expected a Greek owner to circulate amoungst the guests and welcome us and make sure everyone was happy. Never happened.
I was so disappointed in the whole affair, that I invited all the table to my home in Carina the following weekend. I got my Cypriot BBQ out and cooked over coals. There was Pork Souvla, sheftalies, baby octopus, quail all cooked over charcoal, dolmades, tzatziki, pita bread, grilled haloumi, taramasalata, melitzanosalata (egg plant dip), tabouli, spanakopita, caper berries, we finished with Galaktoboureko. The only thing missing was the Bouzouki Player. We drank Mythos and Ouzo. A real Greek experience.
By the way, we are Kiwis.

Approximate cost: $540

The only thing really left of Greek culture in West End (which used to be a very Greek suburb) is several Greek restaurants and cafes.

Of the two main Greek restaurants, this one has a little more character. Now I hope I don't get them confused because they look similar and have similar dining options.

The main thing to grab are the food platters. They are a little on the expensive side, but they include a nice selection.

Try to avoid seats on the main foot path as it can be busy and noisy every time people cross the road with the lights. Other than that, it is a nice place to eat. Greek food is a little boring these days and the price is a little high.

Yes, their Greek food is a little boring, and not very Greek. We were very disappointed.

Okay i am a bit biased because I really love Greek food, but I found the service here to be excellent, food very very tasty, food was quick to come out, can't wait to come back again

have visited this restaurant many times and each time receive excellent service and food.
The food is served with great presentation and is devine with flavours that are beautiful.
I love the indoor and outdoor settings to select from when dining and the service from staff re: menus and descriptions of individual dishes.
Yet another restaurant from West End that I highly reccommend to family and friends
