While in the Riverland we drove around the area and stopped into this very old and historic hotel for a look. Nice gardens to sit outside and enjoy your drink (beer for me and lemon lime and bitters for my wife). Meals can be eaten inside or outside depending on your choice. Friendly staff and a great deal of history information available. Sit and imagine the old days when the horse and wagons stopped here on there way to the hinterland. The days before bridges and cars etc. Very atmospheric. Not sure but I think it wise to check opening hours.

this is a great place for the whole family. its free admission to look around at the old hotel & see the history of the place. they have a lot of antiques from the era it was built & old photos, one even has what looks like a ghost in it. a paranormal team has been there & even said that it is haunted. this just adds to the charm of the place. you can stay overnight or just enjoy a meal there. they are also a licensed hotel, so you can stop & enjoy a drink or two. the owners are friendly & helpful & tell you a little of the history. this place has even been flooded during the 1956 flood & has markers to show how high it got. a must for all visitors & locals.

Approximate cost: $19

We spent about 3 hours here last Sunday, sitting in the garden outside this beautiful old (very old, built in 1860) historic pub, having a drink and chat, then lunch.
There are new owners, only been there a couple of weeks, and very keen to revamp and improve the business (but not destroy the character and history of the place, as far as I could tell). A lovely couple, very friendly, passionate about the area, and enthusiastic.
The gardens are inviting, nicely lawned with plenty of seating and tables, covered by umbrellas. The pub itself is, of course, very old, but oozing with character. Several rooms are set up with displays of old colonial Australian items. There is a dining room inside, that would seat about 30 people, I'd guess. Or you can sit at one of the small tables in the front bar area. We had our meals outside in the garden.
A group of 6 of us had various meals, from a vege burger to fish, chips and salad. Some had half serves, which were still a very generous serving, and the prices were reasonable. Everyone was very satisfied with the quality of their meals.
This is a really nice, charming spot, and we all really enjoyed our visit here.

Our family of 5 bought lunch here & asked for directions to the walking trails. We were denied directions, so after our meal found our own way to one of the shortest walks as our youngest is only 2yrs old. Approx 45mins later we paused en route to the car to drink our water. The proprieter must have been watching us as he instantly stormed out, and actually shouted at us "CAN'T YOU READ??" We had paused under a sign stating strictly no BYO food/drink. A polite reminder would have sufficed. I wouldn't speak to a dog that way, and I wouldn't recommend the hotel based on how we - paying customers - were spoken to.

I was extremely disappointed following a trip to the abovementioned hotel recently. The staff were quite rude and the food was expensive. Besides which, the group I was with were approximately 80% of the patronage for the evening, but due to laughing too loud, were asked to leave the premesis. Won't be returning.
