You'd go here for great food, especially Duck and BBQ sweet pork, is what i had for a lunch, not if your looking for friendly staff or a budget meal.

Unfortunately this place has become very overrated over the years, and in opinion they have allowed their original reputation to get to their heads.
The food retains its original quality. The menu is comprehensive (as you would expect from any chinese bistro/cafe) and the food is reliable (at least they do not serve poor quality/off food like so many chinese cafes have a tendency to dish up).
However, these are things that you would expect from any decent self respecting eatery.
As a result of their reputation for being better than the average chinese cafe, they have hiked up prices dramatically.
Once you consider that you are paying about $25 pp for a standard meal (nothing fancy, just a reasonably sized main) in a very minimally staffed asian cafe, in the below par surrounds & atmosphere, the value equation becomes extremely unbalanced.
However, if you can put aside the issue of the value equation and withstand the occasionally unashamedly rude attitude of staff, then this place does deliver reliable chinese (canton style) food.

Hi Rosep1, from what you (and others) have described, this place sounds reasonable enough and for all intensive purposes, appears to be doing well. While the menu may tempt many, we doubt that the lacking service is an appealing attribute. In fact, we have been known to boycott businesses based on unsatisfactory service alone! Regards, Reeces

I was impressed by the amount of seafood they had available here and the size of the menu. We had the the crab with noodles which seemed to be popular in the restaurant at the time. It was very tasty a bit messy, but fun to eat also. There must have been a misunderstanding when we placed the order as our bill was over a hundred dollars, so be sure you understand the price per weight before ordering. Overall a satisfactory experience.

My favorite place to go for fresh seafoods. Love the mud crab noodles when they are in season otherwise whole fish steamed with ginger and spring onion is very good too. The roast ducks and crispy skin pork are also very tasty.

This place used to be a canteen with nice food and relatively reasonable price in the neighborhood. However the quality had been constantly going down hill. Maybe it's unfair to claim they are going downhill as they still make good roast BBQ ducks and stuff. However, it just that other restaurants and new comers are catching up on the quality, that makes the Pacific House losing my affection to it, I mean, who will not be if the price is soaring but we did not see any improvement in quality and especially the service. I could bare with the waiter with a long face when it was cheap and I was a broke, but why would I pay for a med-end price for that standard? I think the owner, as well as the public are getting too used to what is happening and what is already there without realizing it.

Approximate cost: $30

Hi AlanC1, thanks for adding your comments. Given the various complaints pertaining to service, it would be prudent for management to peruse the various â??onlineâ?? reviews and make the necessary changes. While there are admittedly some things in business one cannot change, unsatisfactory customer service is one that can (and ought) to be urgently addressed! Thanks, Reeces

Their roast duck is the best. Other chinese food dishes are also good but ask the waiter for their specials. They have a 6pm or 8pm session so best to book. It's very cramped but the food makes up for it.

I go there for the seafood....mud crab is to die for. Loud, busy, always make a booking. Cramped but not as bad as their Richmond store. Service is lightning fast. The take away chopped meat is delicious.

Absolutely a Bargain!
Once you walked in, it is another world. It was packed, table everywhere, shoulder touching dining experience. The Golden prawn was wonderfully deep fried with egg yolk. BBQ Duck served just at the right temperture. The Siu Yuk (BBQ Pork with Crisspy Skin) was wordless, skin taste so nice (despite the fat contents). It surely a wonderful experience, and I do encourage a try.

Approximate cost: $20
