This place ticks all the boxes for budget accommodation. I have stayed in both the dormitories and a single room; as a backpacker the dormitories were definitely the best place! Prices are very reasonable for its central Brisbane location, dormitories are spacious enough to accommodate guests and luggage, and the downstairs bar provides a great opportunity to socialise with other like minded people. I used the Palace as a base between the Gold Coast and the Outback, and was definitely not disappointed. Oh, and they have an office where they can help you with travel arrangements and finding work - I was struggling to find employment, went into see the guy that worked in there, and was on a bus the following day heading out west to my new job! It may not be the Ritz, but it also ain't the slums of Brisbane. Were it not for the fact that my backpacking days are now long gone and I now have a small family, I would definitely stay there again.
Approximate cost: $22
The best part about the Palace is the location- very central & across from Central Rail Station. It is what you expect from a hostel- nothing fancy here, I stayed in a single room years ago when on a tight budget & it did the trick.
this place is in the center of the city and is close to everything. they have a variety of rooms available to suit all budgets and have a bar downstairs for soicalising.
